In case you haven’t noticed, August 21st is a very special date in our house for two special reasons! Yes my two girls share a birthday and while the world thinks this is super cool, I treat it as a fun fact but am still skeptical on how this will play out in the long run.
Year 1 as a mom to birthday twins has been an adventure to say the least. I’ve been challenged mentally and physically to lift, soothe and comfort two little ones through good times and bad. I do my best to be fair and make one on one time with each girl.
I work to teach kindness towards the other and hope they’ll grow up as friends. They have tested my patience, reeked havoc on my body, and taken over our home but I wouldn’t change a thing! As I’ve done in years past, let’s recap this past year with some appearances on the blog of these birthday girls.
They, of course, took up their mom’s love of crafts, completing footprint projects as early as Valentine’s Day and Easter and even as recent as their birthday invitations!
They became my little assistants baking holiday treats or choosing the right papers for a project.
They donned coordinating outfits to trick or treat!
They already have a love and appreciation for handmade gifts just like their mommy!
They’ve enjoyed plenty of time together, always with big smiles on their face,
And jolly laughs from their bellies.
Happy Birthday Brielle and Hailey!
Sorry in advance for all the birthday party features headed your way! While this wasn’t a large scale party I kicked my DIY game in high gear for my girls!

Two of mine almost shared a birthday, and since my due date was so close to the birthday, I knew it might happen. I was glad when I made it to midnight the night of the birthday and I kid you not, my water broke within that minute. My daughter was born that morning! So their big days are a day apart. I think it would have been a bigger deal to me than them though, I think they would have thought it was fun–they are 13 and 20 now. Yikes, the time flew.

This year it’s fun to celebrate them together but we shall see how this pans out in future years. Thanks so sharing your experience!
