I’ve been having a lot of fun partnering with Fairfield World to find more and more uses for their OlyFun fabric like material. I love how smoothly it cuts and doesn’t fray! It makes for a strong material to hold it’s shape, which works well for these DIY parade pom poms that are handled a lot after being made.

DIY Parade Pom Poms Supplies
- Oly Fun – Cherry Bomb, Blueberry, Snow White, Sky Blue
- Masking Tape
- Rotary Cutter
- Metal Ruler
- 1/5″ wide decorative ribbon
- Double Sided Fabric Tape
- Chalk
- Sewing clips
- Hot Glue Gun

First, unroll your OlyFun bolt and cut 9″ wide strips using a rotary cutter.
Next, draw a line across the top about 2″ down using chalk. This will later become the handle of the parade pom poms.
Using scissors cut 1/2″ strips from the bottom up to the chalk line.

Repeat the above steps from additional colors of OlyFun.
Next, stack 4 of these fringed pieces together, mixing and matching colors. Consider double blues, including white, or not using red, but any combo makes for fun parade pom poms! Use hot glue and temporary clips to hold the stacks together.

Next, tightly roll up your fringed stack, applying hot glue along the 2″ top area as you roll. This will help the parade pom poms have better success staying together.
Wrap this 2″ top portion handle using masking tape.

Wrap the decorative ribbon around the masking tape for a prettier effect. Secure using double sided fabric tape.

Your DIY patriotic parade pom poms are now complete! Don’t they look fun in all these different color combos?

At the Memorial day or July 4th parade, grab your patriotic pom poms, don your red, white and blue and get ready with a blanket so you can cheer on your fellow townspeople as they march down the streets.

These DIY pom poms could easily be made for a pep rally or a sporting event in your team’s colors.
