Use Your Stash Challenge: Stars and Stripes

in Celebrations, Crafts & DIY, Papercrafts

Handmade Card using stars and stripes theme | spotofteadesigns.com

You can never have enough birthday, thank you or just blank handmade cards in your collection for future uses! I decided to use the upcoming patriotic holiday as inspiration for a little crafting session and worked up a few stars and stripes themed cards for non patriotic holidays.

This first card was a great use of my stash! These Jolee’s By You stars are ANCIENT and the patterned paper used to make the striped sticks come from the border of a Martha Stewart Crafts Christmas print. Together with some word phrases from EK Success’s old “Bookworks” line, they are a great celebration card for anything happy! I especially love the stars and stripes theme here that has no hint of a red, white and blue theme!

These next two cards that scream BOY to me! I took inspiration from paper crafter Nichol Magourik and tried out that “perfect scattering” effect she always does. You know the look, where it seems like the pieces just randomly fell in the perfect place to create a fun visual effect, but I’m sure there was a lot more work to get them like that? I love when she does this, which you can see here, here and here so I tried it for myself. Not bad for my first attempt, right?

Supplies: patterned paper: K&Company, Martha Stewart Crafts | Stickers: Sticko | Baker’s Twine: Martha Stewart Crafts | Stamp: Inkadinkado
