Anyone else start getting inspired to create for Halloween in July? The life of a creator is always ahead and places like Hobby Lobby know we like to start eyeing cute decor that month too! So I hope you won’t be surprised to learn that I already have Halloween and other 4th quarter holidays on the brain!
Let me introduce you to my new series of creations: the cardstock cake topper!
This Trick or Treat Halloween cake topper comes together easily with the following supplies:
- Cricut Maker
- Cardstock – black, orange, purple, and yellow. (Note: I also use glitter cardstock for the bats, but that’s optional so you can use the same purple cardstock for the “or”)
- Adhesive – Beacon Creates Adhesive and Foam Squares
- Trick or Treat Halloween Cake Topper SVG
- Paper Straw or lollipop stick.
First, upload the SVG file in Cricut Design Space and cut all the pieces as indicated. You can see here that the bats are separate of the “or” if you wanted to cut them in a different color or glitter cardstock.
Next, layer them, using a mix of regular adhesive and foam squares to add some dimension. (PS if you get this file from my etsy shop, I included an instructional document showing the pieces to add for each layer in order to create the dimension!)
Tape or hot glue your completed topper to a lollipop stick or paper straw so it’s ready to be added to your cake!
See it all come together on my instagram reel!
Heads up that you might be seeing more cake topper designs for upcoming holidays!
