Thanksgiving Kids Craft: Spin Art Turkey Place Cards

It’s important to get kids involved in the holidays even if they’ll too young to understand the purpose behind the celebration or get together. This Thanksgiving consider having the kids help create something for the table and create their own place cards! See how we turned a fun afternoon of crafting into spin art turkey place cards for the table!

Long time SOTD readers remember my family’s tradition for the kids to create place cards for Thanksgiving dinner each year. This year we brought out a new favorite art machine and had a super fun time creating these cute turkey place cards!

Supplies:

Spin Art Machine
Paint (we used Deco Art Americana Acrylics)
Cardstock
Googly Eyes
Glue
Scissors

First cut pieces of cardstock to fit into the machine. Attach the cardstock base onto the spin art machine and have fun dripping paint onto it. I chose an assortment of Americana Acrylic paints as I thought the colors would be perfect for a colorful turkey!

The girls had fun taking turns to add different colors trying their best to only drip a few drops and not squeeze too much.

Allow all pieces to dry thoroughly.

While they’re drying, create the turkey’s face with a brown cardstock base, goggly eyes, an orange beak and a red scrap for that gobbler thingy. PS did you know that was actually called a wattle? I had to google it :)

Once dry, round the corners of the square, attach the punched shape and the embellished turkey face. Use a marker to write the person’s name to be used their turkey place card.

I know the girls will proudly tell everyone they made this year’s spin art turkey place cards at Thanksgiving in just a few weeks.
