You already know that when D and I shared our news for summer, my sister Melanie was also pregnant at the time. But most of you might not know that my sister-in-law, Lauren, is also pregnant and due only two weeks before us! Yep, this little bundle is going to have quite a few cousins all REALLY close in age!
Just this past weekend, I attended her “Team Green” (aka they don’t know the gender) baby shower! Walking in, we were greeted by this guy:
Yes, a giant, sugar filled rubber duckie cake! My brother-in-law, Frank’s, family has many well known crafters, artists and bakers. One of his cousins, Christine, has been known to make some awesome cakes that not only taste delicious but are completely adorable as well! Her baking and sculpting talents were called upon once again with this adorable “Welcome Baby” cake to celebrate my nephew or neice-to-be.
As usual, Christine went above and beyond, creating this giant duck cake (from scratch ladies, there are no boxed cakes or icing tubs used here!) and matching little red velvet cupcakes topped with rubber duckies. Together, it made a beautiful display for this gender neutral bash and one I wanted to share with my SOTD readers.
