On Monday I shared the before shots of our powder room and why it wasn’t working for us.
In short, we hated the wall paper, open vanity, lack of hidden storage, and shiny hardware.
Insert a winter blizzard and Derek got motivated to make the change! He removed all the fixtures and hardware, began spackling and sanding the walls and I got to making purchases of the items we had found that were a perfect fit.
Here’s the after! All that stayed the same was the toilet. I LOVE the new color (Behr Comforting Green, which I know looks more blue than green here). Goodbye stripes!
Derek installed a new vanity with a Euro style vanity that was needed for that narrow space. It gives us more storage, hiding the plumbing underneath which our previous one didn’t have. He even went as far as removing the molding on the wall so it would stay flush against the wall, which is much needed with this lack of a backsplash sink.
A new oval mirror (that doesn’t tilt since the other one moved all the time) was installed. It has an almost sea glass look to it and it LOVE IT!
Pretty new lights hang above which no longer has that shiny silver look.
In fact, the hardware and accessories now match!
Instead of the small glass shelf that gave us no storage, we now have an overhead storage unit in case Derek needs to put any of his toiletry items for those early mornings where he’s trying to get out the door without waking the girls.
Previously our toilet paper holder was on the wall on the left but that made it hard for little ones to reach which wasn’t helping the potty training situation. Instead we moved it to the wall to the right. I’m still undecided if I need some wall art on that large blank wall. What do you think? Leave it blank or find/make some art?
Who can forget the nice fluffy rug with the fun print. Why did I ever have a solid BROWN rug in this bathroom when I could have this?!
And because I always love me a before and after, here ya go:
I LOVE that everything coordinates. Yes it’s just a small bathroom but this feels much more “us” and more functional for our family. #2016goals

I love the mirror :) Can you come plan out our upgrades?! Hopefully I will have some before and afters for you the next few weeks :) Fingers crossed that the IKEA hack I found goes well.

I think why not hang artwork up on the wall. It looks fine without it but I bet artwork would look very nice too. Always fun to add something to a blank wall.
Maybe add a nice indoor plant on top of the cabinet hanging over the toilet.

Thanks for the input! I think there might be a follow up post with artwork since that seems to be the consensus! :)
