Pinkalicious Halloween Costume

in Celebrations, Crafts & DIY, Fabric Crafts, Halloween / Fall, Wearables

When it comes to Halloween costumes, it’s always more exciting to get dressed up as someone you love, whether it’s a character from a tv show, movie or book. See how to create a Halloween costume as the pink and girly filled Pinkalicious character as featured in the popular books by Victoria and Elizabeth Kann.

Truth be told Hailey was made familiar by the Pinkalicious character first from watching her on the PBS TV show, but was then excited to see that she was a book series! She’s at the age where she wants to choose her own outfits and often asks to wear a dress, and when it’s pink even better! One summer day a few weeks back, Brielle kept calling her Pinkalicious with the all pink (down to the underwear) outfit Hailey picked out for herself and I quickly realized it would be a great DIY Halloween costume for this year!

In the original Pinkalicious book cover, she is wearing a gold crown. We had this plastic one in our dress up collection so I gave it a quick spray paint coverage to turn it more gold.

After drying, I added some sparkly pink gems using Gem Tac.

The wand was made using two pieces of felt cut into a star shape. I sewed them together and put some stuffing inside, but left an opening at the bottom. A pink painted wood dowel and pink ribbon transformed these craft basics into the Pinkalicious wand she carries in the original book!

Lastly I copped out and grabbed this set of sparkly pink wings at Dollar Tree. Guys, I wasn’t going to be able to make this part for less than a dollar so I’m perfectly ok with this compromise. Plus, it happens to be her favorite part of the costume and I’m sure will be in heavy rotation after Halloween.

All this girls needs is a pink cupcake and she’d be a spitting image to the Pinkalicious book character from the book cover!

Sadly she might not be wearing this costume anywhere except our backyard or with her cousins but we still plan to make some fun with other Halloween activities that night!

Hello fellow readers! If you're looking for some r Hello fellow readers! If you're looking for some recommendations for historical fiction reads, here are 5 of my favorites I enjoyed last year that I'd recommend to readers who like this genre (with no spoilers):
.
The Frozen River by Arial Lawhorn – Takes place in the post American Revolution times, narrated by a midwife sharing her challenges in this profession and not being taken seriously but still having people trust her medical authority. It includes a murder and trial, which just reiterates how crazy it was to be a woman back then and their lack of rights!
.
The Book of Lost Names by Kristin Harmel – Like many of her books, this author focuses on the French aspect of WWII, but this time as those who helped forge documents to help Jewish children cross the border.
.
The Nature of Fragile Things by Susan Miessner – Follow Susan Whalen who comes to San Francisco in 1906 as a mail order bride only to get into the middle of a complicated life after marrying a man she never met and things she discovers during a nature disaster in her state.
.
The Lion Women of Tehran by Marjan Kamali – Starts in the 1950s in Iran where we meet two friends and follow their story through the historic time of this country. This fictional read shares more about the culture and limitations of women and those who try to change the government while struggling to maintain friendships.
.
The Rose Code by Kate Quinn – An assortment of female friendships during WWII as they work to break secret codes by the German military and continues to follow their stories through the years.
.
If you have a suggestion on another in this genre, please leave it in the comments so I can add to my TBR!
