If you’re new here they you might not be aware of my big love of paper plates.
I’ve used paper plates in dozens of party backdrops, as countdowns, garlands and now as yard decorations! Since the month of April included three birthdays of local family or friends who self quarantining like the rest of the country, I decided to help make their day a little more special with a paper plate birthday yard sign!
These yard signs were all made possibly to my overstock supply of paper plates from past party assignments, some metallic poster board, these 12″ wooden dowels and my Cricut Maker!
A Cricut machine isn’t necessary for this project, but I was able to easily cut out the letters for 3 different birthday people in under an hour using it so it was definitely a plus!
I glued all the letters on and let them dry completely.
I hot glued a wood dowel to the back of each paper plate.
On their birthday, I texted a fellow housemate to keep them away from the front window as I inserted the wood dowels into the ground to spell out the special birthday message. Tip: bring tape and extra dowels in case any break when trying to put them in harder ground!
In the end this paper plate birthday yard sign took up the yard with a fun message put out for the special birthday boy or girl! Even though we weren’t able to celebrate in person, I hope they each know someone cared about them from afar!
