This post is WAY overdue! Three years ago today, I shared part I of our garage makeover, where we turned our dark and dingy unfinished garage into a clean and modern space. Since today is Father’s Day, I thought it would be fitting to share this updated, functional and organized space Derek has worked so hard on!

First off I must point out that yes, we can fit our car in here, but it’s pretty tight. It was therefore important that we make the most of any space, even the skinny space along the walls.
Starting on the wall to the left you’ll find our expandable power cord which allows Derek to connect the wet vac, power washer, hedge trimmer or other electrical device for all his outside landscaping needs. It swivels out when needed but lays flat when it’s not. Next, wall hooks hold both our ladders along this wall which are within easy access to pull down when needed.
Along the back wall are the pieces that truly make this a man cave! Among the collection miscellaneous beer and Nascar decor, you’ll find heavy duty Gladiator cabinetry to hold all the chemicals, tools and dangerous garage items in an organized and secured way and a large new refrigerator for beverages, party food overflow, extra freezer space and our breastmilk storage. (Nothing says “MAN CAVE” like a freezer of breastmilk right? haha).
You’ll find heavy duty wall shelves and all sorts of special hooks in lots of nook and crannies of this garage space.
One tall cabinet, 2 hanging cabinets, 2 rolling cabinets and 1 workbench make up his work space and storage system and as you can see here, these things hold A LOT!
All these cabinets come with locking options which makes this mommy of 2 little ones very happy.
The workbench gives him more space to work on all our home improvement projects while the cabinets underneath actually roll out if more tabletop space is needed. (You’ve seen me cover with a plastic table cloth and use them for the drinks station at our parties but I’m sure they have a more home improvement-y use! :)
These shelves hold so much!
On the wall to the right, we rehung the cabinet we had made over to match the rest of our garage storage. Right now it mostly holds some of Brielle’s outdoor toys. And next to that you’ll find the snow shovels ready for another blistery winter.
Two large hanging ceiling shelves have been mounted above, holding our collection of luggage pieces, shipping materials and other miscellaneous bulky pieces.
And when you close the garage door, you will see where Derek hangs his beloved surfboard and boogie board, hoping for future trips to the beach!
And now, because I always love a good before and after, you can see our full garage makeover from where we started 6 years ago to the functional and organized space we have today:
