Can you really go wrong with sprinkles within your party theme, especially when they go on donuts? I recently had the opportunity to style a donut birthday party for Wholesale Party Supplies and got to try out one of those cool pegboard donut walls!
To invite guests to this party, I thought it would be fun to bring back the shaker card concept but instead of sequins or glitter, I filled the card’s shaker pocket with sprinkles!
To make a shaker card invitation, you need the following:
- Cardstock and patterned paper
- Sheet of clear acrylic/plastic (this can be recycled from many food and toy product packaging!)
- Adhesive
- Hole Punch (optional)
- Sprinkles
- Foam adhesive
Cover your card in a patterned paper, in this case I chose a donut theme! Create a donut shape using cardstock, punching the hole in the center. Cut the plastic sheet to a shape that would fit over the opening in your donut shape.
Print your message, in this case “Donut grow up,” and apply to the front of the card. Adhere any invitation information to the inside of the invitation. Turn your cardstock donut face down and adhere the clear sheet over the opening. Cut slits in your foam adhesive and apply around the opening. Make sure there is no gaps between the slits so the sprinkles stay in!
Pour some sprinkles onto the acrylic sheet, then peel the other side of the adhesive foam and stick over your message. The shaker card is now ready to give enjoyment for those who receive it in their mailbox.
Keep the sprinkle theme going throughout your donut party decor. Cover paper mache numbers with sprinkles and stack up as a party centerpiece on your food display.
Add straw flags to colorful paper straws and insert into glass milk jars wrapped in a fun “wash it down” design.
DONUT forget to send guests home with a memento of your birthday party celebration! Sprinkle them with love with these mini jars full of rainbow sprinkles and include a “Sprinkled with love” favor tag.
