Help celebrate the best day ever when putting together some DIY party decor for a big fan of the Disney movie Tangled. Grab all your yellow and purple party accessories and create an affordable set of decorations following this tutorial as inspiration.

My fellow crafty friend Tara is a super mom to 4 kids and loves to host at home celebrations for their birthday. This spring, she hosted a combo birthday party for 10 year old, 15 year old and her 4 year old niece and decided on a Tangled birthday party theme to celebrate all three. Just like we’ve done in parties past, we evoked the help of crafty grandmas, our Cricut machines and created some DIY Tangled party decor to dress up her home.

First up, we focused on the famous Rapunzel tower, making it from recycled pieces of cardboard.

After drawing out the basic shape, I painted it with standard acrylic paint.

Three yellow plastic table cloths served as an easy Rapunzel braid, famous in the Tangled movie.

The tower was complete with some fake flowers to fill in the braid and on the window box and some pieces of cardstock to create shingles for extra dimension.

The actual tower was attached to the wall thanks to super strong magnets and the metal edge used in their wall.

We added more color and texture with strips of crepe paper in yellow, pink and purples. A “Best Day Ever” banner was created using a Cricut Explore 2 machine and cardstock designs. It made for such a cute backdrop for photos with the birthday guests of honor.

To make it a little more fun, we created some wearable DIY Party hats using solid green and purple hats and felt, yarn, pipe cleaners and cardstock.

Kids chose between green Pascal hats, honing the chameleon sidekick in the movie or the purple Rapunzel hats complete with a yellow yarn braid coming out the back.

The room was complete with more lantern inspired banners hung in the open area of her kitchen, making this a colorful themed display that really screamed “Tangled” for those who were familiar with the movie.
