Anyone else have a father-in-law that you love but who’s hard to shop for? There are only so many clothes he needs, restaurant gift cards to treat him to or things you can buy for this hobbyist golfer. If there’s one thing I know he enjoys, it’s to dream big and test his luck with lottery scratch off tickets!
This year, the New Jersey Lottery is introducing 4 new Holiday Instant Games ($1 Holiday Luck, $2 Holiday Luck Times 10, $5 Jingle Bills, and $10 Cash in a Flash). And even if you don’t win the first time around, you have a second chance to win with their Million Dollar Replay!
By entering $10 of eligible NJ Lottery non-winning Instant Tickets you can be entered into a drawing that could make you a millionaire! For more information, visit New Jersey Lottery.
The lottery tickets themselves are easy to grab as they’re available at any brick and mortar Lottery retailer, like 7-11 or Wawa. And turning them into a cute gift is just as easy! Here’s what you need:
- New Jersey Lottery Holiday Instant Games
- Recycled cardboard or foam core
- Adhesive (I recommend temporary so you don’t ruin any part of the tickets!)
- Green cardstock or construction paper (optional)
- Chocolate Gold Coins
- Red Bow
- Printable “Lucky” message (Download my free printable here!)
To create my DIY Lottery Wreath, I first cut a large ring out of recycled foam core as my base. This does NOT need to be a perfect circle as you’ll be covering it up! Next I cut up some green cardstock pieces, fringed the ends with a few scissor snips, and adhered them around the outside ring. This is an optional step, but one I think that makes your wreath step it up a notch.
Apply temporary adhesive on the cardboard ring and arrange your tickets on top. Tip: the lower value NJ Lottery tickets area great for this step as you can get fit a lot without breaking the bank!
Continue layering your tickets on the wreath until the entire base is covered. Consider adding some higher valued New Jersey lottery tickets right in the bottom front and a lucky message as an extra special touch. My free lucky message printable includes both a “We feel so lucky to have you” and “I feel so lucky to have you” design depending if it’s a group or single gift.
Finish by adding some chocolate gold coins as berries – because winning would be SWEET! I’m really looking forward to gifting this lottery wreath to my father-in-law in a few weeks and hope he’s a big winner!
For those of you who know him in real life, next time you see him ask he’d do if he won the lottery. He has a whole scheme in his head that isn’t necessarily the typical flashy cars and exotic vacations. First on his list? Donating money to the company that sponsored his first little league team as a kid. Me? If I won on an NJ Lottery Holiday instant ticket I’d probably look to upgrade our home to make sure I had a dedicated craft room. :)
If you create this wreath from my steps, I’d love to see it! Or if you’re looking for more ideas to gift the lottery to someone you know I’d got you covered.
