Unicorn Tooth Fairy Pillow

in Crafts & DIY, Fabric Crafts, Printables

There are plenty of mysterious and magical characters that appear in childhood, including Santa, the Easter Bunny and the Tooth Fairy. If your child is almost at the age of losing their first tooth, set them up with a cute pillow to help keep that precious tooth safe and craft up a unicorn tooth fairy pillow using this free printable template!

Brielle is an August birthday so probably one of the younger kids in her kindergarten class. Many are already 6 and some are even losing their first teeth which made her more curious about that special tooth fairy concept.

Just as I had done for my nephew, I wanted to sew up a cute little tooth fairy pillow to keep her teeth safe when it does finally come to the time of losing a tooth. When asking her what theme she’d like on it, she immediately said “unicorn” (another thing that has become a trend in kindergarten life!)

Unicorn Tooth Fair Pillow supplies:

  • Felt: white, red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, light pink
  • Embroidery thread: white, red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, light pink, black
  • Fabric Scissors (these are my favorite for cutting felt!)
  • Straight pins
  • Water erase marker
  • Needle
  • Stuffing
  • Unicorn Tooth Pillow template

First cut out all the shapes on the template and cut out all the coordinating pieces on the felt colors noted. Note: my supply shot above includes black felt but I ended up stitching the eyelashes on instead of cutting it out of felt.

Layer the pieces onto the front and back pieces of the white tooth shape, the ears, and the colorful pieces on the horn. Use straight pins to secure in place.

Use your water erase pen to draw on the eyelashes and mouth lines.

Stitch the pieces pieces onto these white tooth shapes using the coordinating thread color. Note: the little pocket on the back of the pillow should only be stitched on three sides! If you think the mouth opening is too big, make your pocket smaller.

Backstitch the eyelashes and mouth with black thread.

Pin the backs of the ears and horn onto each piece and use a blanket stitch around the edges.

Place a little stuffing in the ears and horn and use pins to secure in place. Sew to attach to the tooth pillow.

Use a blanket stitch around the outside of the tooth pillow, add more stuffing inside before you fully close it.

Once complete, your unicorn tooth pillow will be ready for that magical first night when the tooth fairy appears! Just place the tooth inside the back pocket and place in that special spot where you know she’ll see it!
