We made plans with Derek’s uncle and aunt (shout out Uncle Dave and Aunt Linda) to go to the town parade for St. Patrick’s Day. It would be Brielle’s first parade and first glimpse if she takes after her mom’s hatred of clowns and loud noises. No matter the outcome of that test, she still needed to look cute. I decided to craft her up a special headband accessory for the occasion!

Supplies:
- White Felt – cut into one circle, four hearts and a stem shape. (Side note: I love that a shamrock is made from hearts!)
- Headband
- Silver Clip
- Tulip Beads in a Bottle Paints
- Fabric Scissors
- Glue (not pictured)
- Needle and Thread (not pictured)
- Button (not pictured)
Often, when I start a craft project, I try to get this “materials” shot done during the day in good lighting, then I know I can craft it anytime Brielle is napping or sleeping at night. So where was she while I took this shot?
Under the craft table with her caterpillar, of course. :) Mommy’s little crafter! Ok, back to the crafting!
Arrange the felt shapes onto the felt circle and use glue to secure. I knew that I’d be adding paint beads around the outside of this shape, but I felt like it needed something special. A few months back we had helped Derek’s grandma clean out her home in preparation to sell. She gave me this large collection of buttons from HER mother, Derek’s Nana. I dug into this bag of buttons and pulled out this cream button with gold accents. I thought it would make a perfect addition to Brielle’s headband.
I sewed the button onto the center of the shamrock and sewed the silver clip on the back. NOTE: Most of the parts of this clip are chocking hazards! I made sure to completely secure all the pieces and knew she’d only be wearing it while we were watching her closely. Do not let babies sleep in headbands with small parts!
Overall she did really well at the parade itself. In fact, she fell asleep during most of it! Derek wore her in our ERGObaby Original Baby Carrier in the hip carry position and there weren’t too many horns or sirens to wake her up.
