Like most first time moms, I had a great fear about SIDS and wanted to know what I could do to help prevent it from happening in our home. When it was time for bed, we laid Brielle down on her back without any blankets or toys with a ceiling fan on low. Knowing that she might still be a bit chilly, I happily tucked her into our HALO SleepSack Swaddle, which was provided by the hospital. (Check out this post where I raved about this particular SleepSack Swaddle design!) Once she outgrew the SleepSack Swaddle design and was transitioned to her crib, I happily switched her over to a regular SleepSack for a good night’s sleep.

Today, I’m excited to share that I’ve teamed up with the great folks of HALO to let you know about a new adorable set of designs that are now available at Pottery Barn Kids! You already know about my love of Pottery Barn Kids patterns, since I used this awesome pink polka dot black out curtains in her nursery. (PS since this photoshoot, we have rearranged the room, switching the changing table with the crib so she’s not near the curtains at night!)

This spring Pottery Barn Kids came out with a whole new collection of adorable bedding designs, which conveniently coordinate with the new HALO SleepSacks!

We were generously donated the pink SleepSack you see above but they also have SleepSack Swaddle designs for smaller babies. They come in both organic cotton or snuggly chamois, and like most Pottery Barn Kids items, can be embroidered with the baby’s name!

HALO Innovation’s SleepSack® wearable blankets have become the standard for hospital nurseries and parents alike. In fact, 1,250 hospital nurseries use the HALO SleepSack Swaddle instead of blankets through the HALO Safer Way to Sleep Initiative. HALO Innovations also offers free Safe Sleep Practices kits to childbirth educators to help further the cause of SIDS prevention. Follow HALO to learn more: Website | Facebook | Pinterest  | Twitter

At almost eight months, Brielle now uses her SleepSacks for a long night’s sleep and the occasional nap, if it’s chilly. The best part about these SleepSacks are that they zip up from the bottom to help make those late night diaper changes quick and easy. You can see her demonstrating this in the above photo with a very confused face. :)

Love the dot pattern in gray or green! I think gender-neutral is best so they can hang around for the next baby!

🐚 Draw out a stencil of your preferred shape. It's optional to paint the shape itself, but even a rough pencil line will keep you on task
🐚 Use strong glue and a lot of it! I used E6000 glue and ended up having to get more than what you see here.
🐚 Flip the shells over! There are some cool colors on the insides that may match better than the top side.
🐚 Clean and dry the shells thoroughly. Sorry, but I have no tips about this process as my mom had these ones for year from past trips, but you don't want some smelly shells hanging in your home!
🐚 Don't skip on those little shells as those minis are perfect to fill in the gaps of the collages.

Hello fellow readers! If you're looking for some r Hello fellow readers! If you're looking for some recommendations for historical fiction reads, here are 5 of my favorites I enjoyed last year that I'd recommend to readers who like this genre (with no spoilers):
.
The Frozen River by Arial Lawhorn – Takes place in the post American Revolution times, narrated by a midwife sharing her challenges in this profession and not being taken seriously but still having people trust her medical authority. It includes a murder and trial, which just reiterates how crazy it was to be a woman back then and their lack of rights!
.
The Book of Lost Names by Kristin Harmel – Like many of her books, this author focuses on the French aspect of WWII, but this time as those who helped forge documents to help Jewish children cross the border.
.
The Nature of Fragile Things by Susan Miessner – Follow Susan Whalen who comes to San Francisco in 1906 as a mail order bride only to get into the middle of a complicated life after marrying a man she never met and things she discovers during a nature disaster in her state.
.
The Lion Women of Tehran by Marjan Kamali – Starts in the 1950s in Iran where we meet two friends and follow their story through the historic time of this country. This fictional read shares more about the culture and limitations of women and those who try to change the government while struggling to maintain friendships.
.
The Rose Code by Kate Quinn – An assortment of female friendships during WWII as they work to break secret codes by the German military and continues to follow their stories through the years.
.
If you have a suggestion on another in this genre, please leave it in the comments so I can add to my TBR!
