When it comes to group Halloween costumes cost is often an issue if there are more than just a few participants. For this softball team of 11 players and 3 coaches, we went with the ultra affordable and adorable theme of prison inmates and guards for this year’s group Halloween costume. Follow along to see more of this DIY Halloween creation.

I just LOVE a theme and it was apparent that this year’s softball team did as well! Not only did we have a coach and kid costume theme that paired well together, but we also made some funny signs they could hold up to go along with it!

I created this SVG cut file and have made it available to you FOR FREE if you’d like to create this costume for your team! I provided all the numbers so you can create your own prisoner number based on their birthday or whatever numerical reason you choose.
In order to create the file properly (aka knocking out the numbers from the rectangular shape), I create an easy PDF instruction sheet you can download here to learn the step by step process to make this piece in Cricut Design Space.
The coaches all wore DIY police uniforms to act as the inmates guards which I made with blue shirts and this svg cut file (not mine but one I used and recommend). I made this using black and gold glitter iron on vinyl.
These costumes looks so fun as a collection and because of their bright colors, they were easy to spot around the softball complex!
To make this theme a little more playful, I made these simple signs out of foam board as photo props showing their softball related offenses.
We only have 11 girls on our team but I did come up with 13 and also offered them here as a FREE svg cut file so you can make them for your group Halloween costume!
It made for an adorable photo with both smiling faces and tough girl looks. See all the signs up close in my instagram reel!
If you try this Halloween costume idea using my free files, I’d love if you tag me so I could see! Happy Halloween!
