This candy cane taste test printable was originally a commissioned request by one of my etsy clients last year and, as I’ve shared before, my clients have the best ideas! I love how it turned out and with some of my own tweaks, we ended up giving it a try last year as a Christmas game with my family. I’ve even improved it after we played and put it together as one fun printable game for you!
To prepare for this fun holiday activity, I first grabbed a few unique flavored candy canes at Dollar Tree and Walmart, got several clear bowls from my stock and printed a few score sheets for each team. You can grab the full game, including the score sheets, flight strips and master key here in my shop.
I, as the host, assigned each candy cane flavor to a number so I could make a master key on each flavor to reveal at the end.
Next, I broke up the candy canes into small bite size pieces and put them in a bowl with that number. HOWEVER, since doing this with my family, I have simplified this process for you!
I designed little flight strips you can use for each player. The host must place candy cane pieces in the same order as the master on the flight strip and it can be used by each player to sample their own piece in a sanitary way.
At our family Christmas party, we played in teams of one adult with one child, as many of the younger kids were not the best at discerning flavors yet. For each round, each guest took one piece, sampled it and wrote down some notes. They guessed the flavor and got to choose a rating, from 1 to 5 candy canes, 5 being the best.
I know it might seem like a lot of sweets were being tested, but since you only tried one small bite for each round, it only ends up being maybe one total candy cane that you consume in this fun Christmas game.
I have to say it was super fun to see everyone sucking and thinking of the candy cane flavor they were trying and know you’ll family and friends will get a kick out of this tasty game!
In the end, I revealed the final flavors for each and everyone got to boast if they were correct or laugh at the answers from others.
Grab this candy cane taste test printable and use it as a fun Christmas game to do with family or for that rascally holiday elf to bring to your home!
