The Olympic torch is one of the most recognizable symbols of these historic games, branching the ancient games with the modern location. It’s lit during the opening ceremonies and then extinguished at the closing a few weeks later. Play off this recognizable symbol with a batch of Olympic Torch cupcakes made in ice cream cones!

Making ice cream cone cupcakes has been on my “I want to make those” lit for YEARS now so I’m happy to have found a great use to make it happen! Here are just a few tips to create these Olympic Torch Cupcakes:

I saw a few posts sharing the aluminum tray trick. I decided to give that and the muffin tray a try. I’m happy to report that both worked so save yourself the time and just use the muffin tray!

Bake according to the directions and allow to cool.

While baking, upload your Olympic Flame and Team USA SVG to Cricut Design Space and send to cut. I created the flame design with three orange and yellow colors and the Team USA using blue and red cardstock.

Assemble your cupcake toppers. I used a mixture of foam adhesive and ZIG 2-Way glue pen to create some dimension in some areas. Add a toothpick on back and set aside.

Add food coloring to vanilla frosting to make orange color and frost on top using a fun frosting tip, like Wilton #. Squeeze a dollop on then pull up to create peaks.

Add gold sprinkles, if desired, and insert your cupcake toppers. Your Olympic Torch Cupcakes are complete!

Serve these up during the opening ceremonies and have the kids lift them up as if they were carrying the actual Olympic torch, while donning their red, white, and blue Team USA apparel!

As my creative friend Elise of Polka Dotted Blue Jay pointed out, the flame style look of these toppers would also be great for a camping snack! Add them to a cupcake with a little toasted marshmallows on top and they bring in that s’mores theme we all love!
