You may remember reading about my Year of Date Nights group gift where we gave a new couple, Allie & Tim, 12 gifts at her bridal shower that would last the first year of her marriage. Now I’m back with another gift that keeps on giving, only this one doesn’t include a monthly surprise.
Now, I don’t claim to have come up with this concept by any means. I saw this monthly onesies gift done by a girl named Britt who used iron on transfers. Knowing that my sister would do monthly photos with her second, as she did with her first, I decided to make her a custom monthly onesies set using iron on letters.
Supplies:
- 12 onesies with the associated sizes (three 3 months, three 6 months, three 9 months, three 12 months)
- Iron
- Iron On Letters
- Cotton press cloth (like a pillowcase)
- Scissors
Step 1. Cut out each iron on letter, close to the edge. It doesn’t have to be perfect to the shape, but just enough to place the letters next to one another in an arrangement and still have something to grab to pull away the excess. As the styles I used were flocked, you actually have to place them face down with the plastic side up when applying, which is why you can read the phrase in the photo above.
Step 2. Place a cotton press cloth, like a pillowcase, over the letters and heat as instructed on the package. Some letter types say cotton setting while others say wool so read carefully.
Step 3. After you know they have adhered, peel the plastic backing to reveal your phrase!
Step 4. For my set, I wrote “one month” on the first followed by just the number “two, three, four” etc until the last one where I wrote “one year”.
Here’s the full collection. I mixed and matched colors and shapes for a fun look.
Isn’t it crazy how much they grow from one month to one year? I can’t wait to see my little nephew in this set!
