Sometimes there are some really cute stickers I adore, but I just can’t see myself using them in scrapbook pages. Instead, I put them aside for some cards, usually birthday in nature. So when I saw this Sock Monkey sticker, I knew it would be perfect for some cards down the road.
I also happen to have this collection (like most papercrafters) of scraps! I decided to challenge myself in using up my scraps, this sock monkey sticker and a selection of my favorite edge punches to come up with some quick birthday cards.
With a little playing, and some Netflix instant movie watching, I came up with three different cards to add to my collection.
The cards above show off multiple patterned papers punched in different punch designs. Instead of keeping the strips of edge punches flat to the card, I also tried out a technique I’ve admired where you curl out the edge of the punched portions. It gives the card a little flirty extra dimension instead of a boring, flat design.
This version shows how you don’t have to mix and match punch designs, but you can use the same punch, slightly off skew. The colors of this card had also lended themselves to some distressing techniques with brown inked edges on all the cut surfaces.
Challenge yourself to use up YOUR scraps with the combination of some leftover stickers and your punch collection!
