When it comes to holiday décor, consider throwing in some pieces that can be displayed long after the Christmas season ends. Roam around your craft supply bin and put together a mixed media snowman wall art made with supplies you already have on hand! Check out this one design featuring an embroidery hoop base and decorated with bottle caps and felt!

One of the great things about mixed media wall art is that you can mix and match whatever you have on hand to create your finished piece. This particular design required no new supplies to be purchased as it was all made with things I already had in my craft closet and bins!

Supplies:

  • (2) Embroidery Hoops of different sizes
  • Acrylic Paint
  • Felt
  • Bottle Caps or Buttons
  • Embroidery Thread
  • Hot Glue

First paint the outer rings of the embroidery hoops and set aside to dry. I chose the extreme sheen acrylic paints from Deco art as I LOVE the metallic shimmer they give!

Punch small holes in the bottle caps. (I used my Crop-a-dile punch tool that cuts through them like butter!)

Next, stretch a piece of felt over the embroidery hoops with a piece of felt. This large light blue sheet was left over from the Under the Sea Quiet Book I made Brielle 2 years ago (that PS both girls play with often)!

The face was created with several bottle caps and orange felt for a carrot nose. You could easily swap out the bottle caps for buttons, but as you may notice, these caps are those from the brewery my parents own and they happen to be black. Additional bottle caps were sewn onto the bottom hoop as the snowman’s buttons.

A black hat and green scarf were attached with hot glue and once I added a ribbon to hand my  mixed media snowman wall art was complete!
