Our master bedroom is not BIG by any means, but it works perfectly for us. What do you need in there besides a bed, some dressers and a closet? After a few years of living here, we’re starting to realize what works for us and what doesn’t and we’re working to make some upgrades to better fit us. The first project we tackled was the master bedroom closet.
Here it is before. It had those typical white metal racks, where the cross bars always got in the way, no space to hang longer items, like dresses or pants, and just an overall odd configuration for the types of clothing we keep in our closet.
First step, Derek removed all the current shelving pieces. He then spackle and sanded the older holes and added a fresh coat of paint.
We went ahead and purchased this closet organizer system from Bed, Bath and Beyond, using some gift cards given for our wedding/bridal shower. After a long Saturday installing (D likes to take his time and do things right) the new closet system was put up!
The new system allows for ALL his work shirts to hang in this closet, instead of spread between different closets in the house. Before the hangers were each set in its own metal grid and you couldn’t easily slide them to view the clothes, like you can now. It also includes a longer space on the left, where I can hang my longer casual dresses and he can hang his work pants. In addition, we added 2 over the door hooks on the left side to hang our hoodies so we could run and grab them quickly. We’re very happy with this new set up! Can’t wait to fit it up with more clothes purchases! :)
Next up, the garage makeover (currently in progress!
