Christmas is a fun mail season as every day there’s a possibility of a new package or a Christmas card to arrive in your mailbox.  Once it’s over you are left with the issue of what to do with all the Christmas photo cards received! Consider turning this set of happy snail mail into cute Christmas Card flip books to be cherished for years to come!

I have been making these Christmas card flip books for the past few years as it’s just too hard to throw away someone’s photos! I’ve shared them on my instagram stories and always have an interest in them so I’m finally sharing them today in a quick little post!

To make these fun Christmas card flip books, you will need:

Supplies:

  • Photo Cards
  • Hole Punch (I use my trusty Crop-a-dile)
  • (2) – 1″ Book Rings
  • Pencil
  • Book Cover (download my free printable here!)
  • Scrap paper as template

First stack all your cards into pile of like sizes. Tip: Make sure to face them all the same direction so you’re punching on the same side.

Print your cover page onto cardstock and cut to size. I actually mounted mine on another thicker cardstock to help give more support. My file is free for you to download but note that it includes a different page for years 2012 – 2019! Make sure you only print out the year you need.

Find your smallest photo card and punch two holes on the left side at least a 1/2 inch in from the edges. Lay this card onto the title cover and trace both holes with your pencil. You will then be able to use this cover page as your template to line up all the holes for all the other cards. Did you notice, my cover pages include the date and some festive Christmas snails…. cuz you know… snail mail. :)

Place the title cover over each card on the left side and use the pencil to draw the circle shapes.  Use a hole punch to punch over these marks.

Thread each card through these holes and close book ring to complete.

Now you’ll be able to flip through the photo cards for that year! This is also a great technique to do with birthday cards or any other card giving occasion where you are sentimental to the paper items received.

Throw these Christmas card flip books into a basket when you put out your holiday decor and flip through them to watch families grow right before your eyes!

Don’t forget to include your own family’s card in each book!
