We’ve all been home so much more than we ever were before and are all trying to find ways to make this home space fun for the kids. One random Tuesday earlier this month I decided to make a normal yogurt smoothie extra special with the help of some heart straw toppers and plastic cups from the Dollar Tree. You would’ve thought I baked the girls a buffet of desserts by the excitement on their faces for “fancy straws.”
Here’s how easily the heart straw toppers make together. You’ll need:
- Cardstock (pink and red)
- Cricut Maker
- Paper Straws
- Adhesive (I used ZipDry from Beacon Adhesives which dried pretty quickly!)
- Heart Straw Topper SVG Cut file (FREE for personal use!)
Tip: Choose “cardstock for intricate cuts” for the material when in Design space to get clean cuts!
To assemble the heart straw topper, slide the paper straw through the slots and adhere the pink heart on top. Hold for a few seconds to secure.
Now it’s time to add these cute toppers to your drink of choice! Here’s the strawberry smoothie recipe we’ve been rocking for a while. Also sorry that I don’t have many measurements as we kinda just wing it.
- Banana (even better if it’s browning!)
- Strawberries
- Ice
- Greek Yogurt
- Honey
The girls are very into this step as they are able to cut the fruit by themselves! We love these Curious Chef Nylon knives (that I’ve previously shared on my Favorite Products for a 6 year old list). They are kid safe but still sharp enough to cut fruits and vegetables. I’ve gotten them for gifts a few times and everyone always loves them!
After blending well this pink drink is ready to enjoy! Stick in a clear cup (so you can see the pretty pink color) and insert your heart straw topper to make it extra special!
This special afternoon drink was put together with very little cost (aka stuff already in my stash) and very little time (literally 5 minutes) and these smiles were so worth it!
