Handmade Gifts: Feature #13 | Baby Gifts

in Crafts & DIY, Home Decor

As a crafter, I know how long it takes to make some handmade gifts. Items I receive need more than the few minutes of love I can give it, so I’m happy to post these Handmade with Love posts that showcase great handmade cards or gifts I have received.

I recently shared a Handmade with Love post that featured lots of the beautiful handmade items our baby girl received, even before her arrival! But there was just not enough room for all the creations so I broke it out into a two part post!

After being at my previous job a few weeks, Anita started and ended up being one of my best friends there. I was lucky enough to watch her grow through her first pregnancy with her first child, Lucas, and continued to keep in touch after I left the company a few years ago. Anita’s another great example of a super creative friend who is not only a talented graphic designer, but a person who has tons of other creative talents!  She came to visit a few week ago and gave me the below goodies!

I’ve seen these cupcake clothing gifts on Pinterest before but never saw how cute they were in person!! She gifted us some adorable onesies and socks as part of the four part cupcake design, complete in a cupcake box!

The cuteness did not stop there! Anita also made baby girl this adorable mobile to hang in her room, using the grey/pink color palette! It’s made with punched butterfly shapes folded together and hung with some precious pearl beads. It sits above our glider so baby girl can watch it while she feeds. Look for a future post to reveal her fully completed nursery!

Nicole is a fellow crafter who recently has been focused on handmaking quilts. After I saw a beautiful Penn State themed quilt and fish design quilt she made for my brother and sister-in-law, Nicole asked if I might want one for our baby girl as well. Of course my answer was yes, since I love handmade gifts, and already saw her talents in a beautiful blanket!

After telling her the color palette of the room was white/grey/pink and I loved chevron/polka dots, I left the creativeness up to her. On a Monday morning, a package arrived containing this beautiful typography themed creation! I LOVE THE THEME AND COLORS! As a previous graphic designer, the typography theme spoke to me. And as a bonus, look at that adorable elephant stuffed animal she included with extra fabric! Baby girl is going to love that little guy! Thanks again Nicole!

I take pride in my work but one of the best parts of a job can be the people you work with. A few weeks ago, the sweet girls at my office threw me a super cute baby shower, complete with lots of yummy snacks! Cherylin, a cookie expert who’s already been featured on my blog before for her sugary delights, created the most adorable set of baby shower cookies in my honor!

How cute are these?? I love that they are all different but still have a coordinated color scheme and theme! Nom nom nom!

As a FTM (first time mom) there are lots of words, phrases and products I’ve never heard of before. One of them was a crib skirt. But I quickly learned that it’s this special piece of fabric that hangs down below the crib mattress to cover up all that ugly underneath stuff. They had lots of designs I considered on super cute sites, like New Arrivals and Land of Nod, but then I came to my senses and looked them up on Etsy instead. (SUPPORT HANDMADE!)

Luckily I found the shop Soren by Angelique and this grey chevron crib skirt that was on sale. It was ready to ship upon payment so I happily received it within a week. After a quick ironing, I went ahead and added it to the crib where it was a perfect fit!

I have been very lucky with all my Etsy shop purchases this past year for baby and wedding gifts so make sure to check back on previous Handmade with Love posts to see them all!

Thanks again to everyone for their beautiful handmade creations that were so personalized to our baby girl!

5 Tips to Make Shell Canvases like this: 🐚 Draw ou 5 Tips to Make Shell Canvases like this:
🐚 Draw out a stencil of your preferred shape. It's optional to paint the shape itself, but even a rough pencil line will keep you on task
🐚 Use strong glue and a lot of it! I used E6000 glue and ended up having to get more than what you see here.
🐚 Flip the shells over! There are some cool colors on the insides that may match better than the top side.
🐚 Clean and dry the shells thoroughly. Sorry, but I have no tips about this process as my mom had these ones for year from past trips, but you don't want some smelly shells hanging in your home!
🐚 Don't skip on those little shells as those minis are perfect to fill in the gaps of the collages.

Hello fellow readers! If you're looking for some r Hello fellow readers! If you're looking for some recommendations for historical fiction reads, here are 5 of my favorites I enjoyed last year that I'd recommend to readers who like this genre (with no spoilers):
.
The Frozen River by Arial Lawhorn – Takes place in the post American Revolution times, narrated by a midwife sharing her challenges in this profession and not being taken seriously but still having people trust her medical authority. It includes a murder and trial, which just reiterates how crazy it was to be a woman back then and their lack of rights!
.
The Book of Lost Names by Kristin Harmel – Like many of her books, this author focuses on the French aspect of WWII, but this time as those who helped forge documents to help Jewish children cross the border.
.
The Nature of Fragile Things by Susan Miessner – Follow Susan Whalen who comes to San Francisco in 1906 as a mail order bride only to get into the middle of a complicated life after marrying a man she never met and things she discovers during a nature disaster in her state.
.
The Lion Women of Tehran by Marjan Kamali – Starts in the 1950s in Iran where we meet two friends and follow their story through the historic time of this country. This fictional read shares more about the culture and limitations of women and those who try to change the government while struggling to maintain friendships.
.
The Rose Code by Kate Quinn – An assortment of female friendships during WWII as they work to break secret codes by the German military and continues to follow their stories through the years.
.
If you have a suggestion on another in this genre, please leave it in the comments so I can add to my TBR!
