Put together a fun group Halloween costume for your coworkers, sports team or besties and make yourself a group of Gatorade bottles! Yes I’m talking about the bright and bold original green and orange top bottles all made in iron on vinyl. See how to put this affordable group costume together!
Welcome to year 3 of creating group Halloween costumes for my daughter’s travel softball team. While we’d love to win a costume contest for the Halloween tournaments we’re in, our main goals are comfort, functionality, cost and cuteness!
If you remember, year one was Dalmatians, which sounds easy but pressing those dots all over both sides of a t-shirt include the sleeves was super time consuming! This was also done for an 8u team, where the coach pitches so tutus are ok!
Year 2 they work these DIY jack-o-lantern costumes which were fun and bright! The etsy file we used (that I didn’t design but we purchased and is linked on that post) included lots of different faces so each player got to their their personality.
For year 3 we decided to be Gatorade bottles which we quickly got to work completing 16 costumes in only a few hours.
Gatorade Halloween Costume Supplies:
- Gatorade SVG cut file – FREE FILE!
- Green T-shirt (Michaels and Hobby Lobby now sell the Gildan brand ones for $2.99!)
- Heat Transfer Vinyl – White, Black (I get these bulk ones from Amazon for all costume use!)
- Heat Transfer Vinyl – Orange Soda (you only need a smaller roll for this)
- Cricut Maker
- Cricut Basic Tool Set – Weeding and Scissors
- Easy Press Heat Press
- Orange Knit Hat
- Orange Socks
My crafty bestie, Tara and I both have daughters on this team and a pair of Cricut machines to boot! We run like a machine now knowing who does what parts of this process without really even talking about it. We can both set up files on our Cricut, weed and press like pros!
Our BIGGEST TIP – Take the time to rearrange your Cricut mats to get the best use of your vinyl. DON’T just cut however Cricut sets it up as they often don’t make best use of space when you send your project to cut.
This t-shirt required only three cuts of a large white G, black layer for the lighting bolt and an orange piece that laid on top.
We also purchased orange knit hats (this was a fall tournament so likely cooler weather so they could wear these hats between games) and orange socks. We already had black pants and white belts from our uniform set.
Tara was also able to procure matching Gatorade bottles that we personalized with their numbers, both for photo purposes and, obviously to actually drink from!
We’re proud to announce that while we didn’t win the costume contest (some PURCHASED Rockford Peaches did!) we did win the tournament, after 11.5 hours on the field and being the underdogs going into the championship!
Us crafty moms are proud to be able to create this fun costume set for our kids, which were easy to spot across the tournament grounds, comfortable for the kids to wear and fun when you paired it with the water bottle accessory!
If you end up creating this for your team, please tag me as I’d love to see it!
