Easter Baskets Ideas for 3 and 5 year old girls

in Celebrations, Easter, Favorite Products, Lifestyle

Easter is late this year which gives us all more time to keep an eye out for fun Easter basket fillers.  And while we all want to fill their Easter baskets with lots of fun for our kids, I try to be more intentional with our gift purchases for our girls. I do include some new fun items but also practical things they need.

UPDATE: This post is a few years old but the ideas are still great for any age! I’ve created an Amazon shop list with all things we have owned and love that FIT in Easter baskets!

Here’s what I the Easter bunny will be bringing to my 3 and 5 year old girls in their Easter baskets!

  • Kid umbrellas – April showers bring May flowers! The ones shown here I bought are no longer sold but they do have a similar unicorn umbrella.
  • Bathing suits – Easter is just one season before pool/beach/waterplay season so get them prepared with a new suit! The seashell and Ariel versions shown in this post are no longer sold but I got them at Target so check out their newest selection!

  • Socks – These girls seem to have big feet like their momma and are pretty rough on their socks.
  • Water bottles – we love these Contingo ones, using these in our home, Brielle’s lunch bag or for sports. They have a flip down spout that’s protected in case it’s dropped and they don’t leak. The girls will be excited about these pretty new colors!

  • Hidden Pictures Activity books – I found these at our local Five Below but we’ve purchased them on Amazon in the past for a similar price.
  • Activity Books – Brielle’s kindergarten doesn’t give traditional homework and she asks for homework so we use these books. Find more of our favorite activity books here.
  • Lego Unikitty blind bag – I got this when styling a LEGO movie party and knew it would be the perfect Easter basket filler! Brielle isn’t SUPER into Lego but she likes it in small spurts. And what kid doesn’t like a blind bag?
  • Shrinky Dinks Mini Kits – Shrinky Dinks just turned 45 years old and they are still going strong! They have mini boxes that fit perfectly in Easter baskets so check out these styles: mermaids, pirates, or mini vehicles.
  • Card Games – You already know my girls are big card game and board game fans so I know they’ll be excited to learn some new ones, like old maid! (PS This card holder makes a great Easter Basket item to go with card games!)
  • Magnetic drawing board – We keep these in our car as something to doodle on when they drive. Grabbed these at the dollar store as they don’t last long and most end up getting stepped on, but they’re worth the dollar for even a month’s use.
  • Mini puzzle – Also got these at the dollar store! They are great to throw in a bag for sideline play at gymnastics classes or when you’re out at a restaurant.
  • Photo Puzzle – My girls LOVE the picture puzzles I’ve made in the past from Shutterfly so I made them a new 252 piece one that’s due to arrive any day! Tip: Pick photos that include different color schemes so it’s easily for them to separate them out into different piles. Then it’s almost like assembling mini puzzles that connect!

And if you noticed a glaring category missing, well we don’t do candy in our Easter baskets in our house, but I’ll probably throw in some Annie’s granola bars or fruit snacks.

5 Tips to Make Shell Canvases like this: 🐚 Draw ou 5 Tips to Make Shell Canvases like this:
🐚 Draw out a stencil of your preferred shape. It's optional to paint the shape itself, but even a rough pencil line will keep you on task
🐚 Use strong glue and a lot of it! I used E6000 glue and ended up having to get more than what you see here.
🐚 Flip the shells over! There are some cool colors on the insides that may match better than the top side.
🐚 Clean and dry the shells thoroughly. Sorry, but I have no tips about this process as my mom had these ones for year from past trips, but you don't want some smelly shells hanging in your home!
🐚 Don't skip on those little shells as those minis are perfect to fill in the gaps of the collages.

Hello fellow readers! If you're looking for some r Hello fellow readers! If you're looking for some recommendations for historical fiction reads, here are 5 of my favorites I enjoyed last year that I'd recommend to readers who like this genre (with no spoilers):
.
The Frozen River by Arial Lawhorn – Takes place in the post American Revolution times, narrated by a midwife sharing her challenges in this profession and not being taken seriously but still having people trust her medical authority. It includes a murder and trial, which just reiterates how crazy it was to be a woman back then and their lack of rights!
.
The Book of Lost Names by Kristin Harmel – Like many of her books, this author focuses on the French aspect of WWII, but this time as those who helped forge documents to help Jewish children cross the border.
.
The Nature of Fragile Things by Susan Miessner – Follow Susan Whalen who comes to San Francisco in 1906 as a mail order bride only to get into the middle of a complicated life after marrying a man she never met and things she discovers during a nature disaster in her state.
.
The Lion Women of Tehran by Marjan Kamali – Starts in the 1950s in Iran where we meet two friends and follow their story through the historic time of this country. This fictional read shares more about the culture and limitations of women and those who try to change the government while struggling to maintain friendships.
.
The Rose Code by Kate Quinn – An assortment of female friendships during WWII as they work to break secret codes by the German military and continues to follow their stories through the years.
.
If you have a suggestion on another in this genre, please leave it in the comments so I can add to my TBR!
