Who doesn’t love a good play on words? I know dads especially fall into this category as many dad jokes are full of puns and fun word references. Give dad exactly what he loves this Father’s Day with an edible gift that includes a pun in a cute wrapped package. Make dad a dynamite candy tube for Father’s Day!

Candy tubes are SO versatile for holidays and gifts as their shape lends itself to become many things. When it’s clear, you can choose color patterns that reflect a holiday, like red, white and blue for 4th of July or add some simple accents and turn them into carrots for Easter. But you can also wrap a candy tube to turn it into other things, like a stick of dynamite!

I originally created this dynamite stick look for a party I’ll be sharing later this year but it also works great for dear old dad!

Supplies:

  • Clear candy tubes
  • Black paint pen
  • Pipe cleaner
  • Red cardstock (with Dynamite message printed – download free printable here!)
  • White cardstock (download dynamite tag here!)
  • Baker’s twine
  • Hot Glue Gun
  • Candy

Print the dynamite wrapper on red cardstock. I ran a soft nail file over the top of it to roughen a bit and look a little more weathered before wrapping and adhering to the candy tube.  To make the stick of dynamite look more finished, I painted the caps with a black paint pen. The small piece of pipe cleaner was added with hot glue, as the fuse.

To gift this set of sweets as a Father’s Day gift, I added this “You are dynamite” gift tag with baker’s twine.

A single dynamite candy tube would make a great gift for your dad but feel free to bundle them up to really play up the dynamite theme! Fill with his favor sweets or roll up a message to fit inside!
