When one of your best mom friends is also a softball team mom and a Cricut crafter, you’re due to complete lots of group Halloween costumes together! This year not only did we complete the Gatorade costumes for our 10u2 players who are both on the team together, I also helped her do the Dr Seuss Things Group Halloween Costume crafting for her 8u players. We have a good groove of costume making prep and execution that makes it fun since we’re crafting together!
I love this costume idea as everyone knows what it is, and you can get playful on the numbering of the things! Since this is for a softball team, the numbers represented their jersey numbers which they used on both the front for the “thing” numbering but also on the back for their jersey.
Dr Seuss Things Group Halloween Costume Supplies:
- Red T-shirt (Michaels sells them for $2.99)
- Things Free SVG Cut File (includes things design, coach design and all the numbers)
- White Vinyl and Black Vinyl (we always get these big rolls from Amazon when doing group crafts!)
- Cricut Maker
- Cricut Basic Tools – Scissors and Weeding Hook
- Blue Knit Hat
- Blue and White Striped Socks
This SVG cut file includes both the components for the coaches and for the players. The fronts include a white shape with black icons to lay on top.
Tips to creating and pressing the player costume:
- To create one cut for the black component, in Cricut Design Space, drag your number under the open “thing” area then select all the black pieces, right click and choose combine –> unite.
- The white “circle” shape has a slight cut out on the left hand side of it that lines up under the black swoosh. Make sure you have these components in the right direction before pressing so you have no gaps!
- Use the number on the back for their jersey number.
The “Coach of all the Things” components is also two parts, using black and white vinyl. Again make sure to line up the white circle and black words components prior to pressing to make sure it’s covering all the edge.
Doesn’t this Dr Suess Things Group Halloween costume look so cute?! Their tournament isn’t until the end of the month so I hope to share a photos of them worn to update this post. :)
