Rice Krispies Treats are always a hit for little kids and even more so with parents! With just a few accessories you can easily turn this noisy breakfast cereal into O the Owl from Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood.
Supplies:
- Rice Krispies
- Marshmallows
- Butter
- Blue food coloring
- Mini Oreos
- Candy Corn
- Reeses Pieces
- Chocolate chips (or melting chocolate)
- Candy eyes
- Cooking spray
- Lollipop sticks or paper straws
First, make the Rice Krispies Treats mix according to the package, adding a few drops of blue food coloring to the marshmallows as they melt.
Spray a glass dish or cookie sheet with cooking spray so that it doesn’t stick. After mixing in the cereal, pour the contents into the glass dish just to get it out of the hot pot and allow it to start cooling.
To create the eyes you’ll need mini Oreos and candy eyes. To easily remove the cookie top, pop it in the microwave for 5-10 seconds then twist to remove. Push a candy eye inside.
Once cooled down a bit and apply to be touched, spray your hands with cooking spray and form a tight ball shape. Stick the lollipop stick or paper straw in the center and begin forming the owl base shape with two little peaks on top.
Use a little melted chocolate to apply the Oreo eyes onto the owl body base, candy corn as the nose and Reese’s pieces as toes.
Leave the pops laying down assembled for a bit so they set. Otherwise the treat will start to separate from the stick or straw.
Aren’t they Grrr-iffic?
Add the pops to a bucket and display everyone will love your O the Owl Rice Krispies Treats at your Daniel Tiger party!
