When someone is going through a rough time and could use a pick me up, consider sending them a yellow box of sunshine to let them know you were thinking of them and hopefully make them smile for a bit.
A box of sunshine is easy to put together as you just have to go shopping with the color YELLOW in mind! It can include anything from toys, games, snacks, desk goodies or even handmade designs.
And since you know I love a good poem explaining the gift, I worked one up and turned it into a free printable for you!
A really good friend of mine and her family recently suffered some sadness so I wanted to send a virtual hug in the form of a box of sunshine.
Here are a few goodies we included in our box of sunshine
-
- Plates and cups to help make a sunny, happy lunch.
- Snacks like a yellow bag of ring pops, peanut M&Ms and yellow lollipops
- Desk accessories like a bright yellow composition notebook and yellow star shapes.
- Consider including playful items, like game of Go Fish and yellow Playdoh, or DIY your own, like the bead busy bag seen above!
As you may know that yellow is Brielle’s favorite color, she was all about helping to include a handmade item in the box. I decided what more fitting than a sun?
She decorated a yellow paper plate with little shapes I drew on a piece of construction paper. They had no significance other than to practice her scissors skills and give her a focus.
Add some paper straws and googly eyes and this sunshine paper plate was a hit!
We included the materials so their little girl could make her own sunshine paper plate too!
Consider saving this idea for someone who could really use some surprise mail that’s bright, cheery and fun!
