With my 1st pregnancy, I gained 42 pounds. After giving birth to my beautiful 6 pound, 9 ounce baby girl I crossed my fingers that I’d get back to my 121 pre pregnancy weight. Thanks to breastfeeding, I lost the extra weight by about 10 months. Knowing that it can be harder to lose the weight the second time around, I wanted to have some assistance in getting my body back sooner so I got in touch with Belly Bandit!
In case you’re not familiar a Belly Bandit is a latex-free wrap that fits around your belly, waist and hips to help create a slimming look post pregnancy. You can wear it day or night, even sleeping it. It helps give support during breastfeeding and expedite excess fluids by applying medical grade compression. Even though I didn’t experience a C-section with Hailey’s birth, they do boast that the Belly Bandit is great for C-Section moms.
I used the sizing chart on the website and ordered mine at 32 weeks pregnant, as suggested. That’s me (at our maternity photo shoot done by my friend Jamie) at a little over 32 weeks. Even though I felt anything but small at that stage of pregnancy, the Belly Bandit sizing chart said I was a small! Well I ended up gaining a total of 49 pounds and welcomed my 8 pound 8 ounce girlie at 40 weeks and 4 days.
I was skeptical of that “small” Belly Bandit size but at 6 days post-partum I was finally able to get my Belly Bandit on and began using its magical powers! You can see me rocking it above at 8 weeks post partum. I mostly wore it over my clothes since I was relaxing at home here but it can also be worn under. (Give a new mom a break and don’t mind my unmade bed or dirty bedroom mirror, ok?)
Within weeks I lost a big chunk of weight and started to get my shape back. Since everyone loves a good before and after photo set and I know that pregnant women love to hear about other experiences with weight loss after baby, I put together a little photo montage for you.
At the time of writing this post and taking the “after” photo Hailey was 15 weeks old. I’m happy with my progress and hope to continue moving in this direction with help from the Belly Bandit. I don’t wear it as often as I did in earlier weeks but since there is still more room to close it, I can keep using it to make my goal happen!
