Selection of 2014 Holiday cards created on @Shutterfly and @TinyPrints | spotofteadesigns.com

I LOVE getting mail.
I LOVE seeing pictures of kids I know.
I LOVE photography, typography and pretty graphic designs!

Hence… I LOVE CHRISTMAS CARD SEASON! or more appropriately Holiday card season (shout out to my Jewish friends!)

Spotofteadesigns.com Holiday Postcard #giveaway

In years past I designed my own illustrated cards. They ranged from spoofing the classifieds ad with funny seasonal descriptions, to owls, to cake stands. You can see some designs above or see the full collection which are available for purchase here in my Cafepress shop. Once we were married and little miss arrived, we’ve switched over to the beloved photo card and have chosen Shutterfly and Tiny Prints as my printing sources!

Tara Nehil, author of spotofteadesigns.com, and her family December 2014

This year Jamie, a SOTD Contributor, (and what has turned out to be our family’s photographer shooting both our engagement pictures and maternity pictures) captured a bunch of family shots one late fall afternoon. The above photo was one of the best of the day showing off a very ticklish Brielle and her mouth full of teeth!

I’m already a big fan of Tiny Prints (since using them for Brielle’s first birthday and having them as my baby shower invite) so I went there first to design some cards. GUYS – they have this “Show With My Photo” feature now that is so cool! You can upload one of your images and see your picture as a placeholder image on all the photo cards in the gallery!

@TinyPrints now offers as "Show with my photo" option so you can preview all the cards with your photo as the placeholder! GENUIS! | spotofteadesigns.com

I have a photo already chosen in the above screenshot but you can see on the top left where I can change it to other photo. WOW! Why doesn’t every site do this? It was so much easier to visualize which card I wanted – or more like which 20 cards I would choose!

We were wearing a gold/black color palette so I ended up choosing this Shimmering Dots design adding one photo on the front and two of our favorites on the back. It’s easily my favorite photo card of the bunch I ordered!

Some discount programs I’m enrolled in offered $20 off holiday cards to Shutterfly so I went there next. While I was SUPER tempted to go with the foil designs as the concept sounded so cool, I knew I’d get more for my money without the metallic foil and ended up going with the It’s That Time 5×7 Stationery Card. (I apologize for my lack of setting the white balance properly on these photos. I promise they aren’t as yellow in real life as I photographed and I really LOVE how they printed!)

Some of my credits were specifically for 4×8 style photo cards from Shutterfly so that’s the last type I designed. I went with this Right On Hue photo card which fit in five of my favorite photos from that afternoon.

Overall, I’m so happy to have all these different versions to send out to family and friends but mostly importantly LOVE these fun photos of our family this season! (Thanks again Jamie!)

And a special thank you to P&G, Kelloggs Family Rewards, Pampers Rewards, and Shoprite, all of whom sent codes for discounts to order this year’s selection!
