Tips to a Fun Disney World Reveal

in Lifestyle, Parenting, Printables

Nothing is more exciting than sharing big news, like a Disney World reveal in a fun way! Sometimes we can get all caught up in the cleverness of it and it goes right over our kids’ heads. Check out the Disney World Reveal surprise I put together for our 7 and 5 year olds for our latest trip to Florida and see their reactions!

Any parent knows, when you tell a child who don’t have a handle on a calendar about an event, they ask every day when we will do said event. We tend to hold off on sharing big news with our kids until only a few days before JUST in case things change. Luckily we never told the girls we were supposed to go to Disney last March 2020 as only 2 days before our trip the world was flip turned upside down and our trip and the rest of our year, was canceled with the beginning of Covid.

Last week we shared the news that we are days away from going on our rescheduled vacation to Walt Disney World! While we did re-book that initial trip about 3 times since, we finally decided to pull the trigger on a magical adventure after all us adults (yep my parents are coming too!) got fully vaccinated! Here are a few tips to creating a fun Disney World Reveal plus an inside look at how we shared the news!

Tips to create a fun Disney World Reveal:

  • Capture their mood before the reveal. Last time we did a Disney World reveal, with a then 4.5 year old Brielle and 2.5 year old Hailey, we first took this memorable photo that is still my most liked picture on instagram! I love that they were literally excited to take a silly picture, not knowing WHAT was spelled out on those boards.

  • Spell it out! Grab this free We’re Going to Disney World SVG cut file and create this sign with your Cricut machine, cardstock and some painter’s tape!

  • Shop your home! If you’re a Disney loving family, chances are you have lots of Disney plush friends and toys you can prop around your reveal area so you don’t have to buy a lot of props.

  • Showcase some of your Disney apparel! I bet you have at least a few Disney clothing pieces you plan to bring on your trip. Lay it all out to make the impact more apparent and give more of that Disney feel! And yes, if you see a few new Disney designs here, know that I did whip up some new t-shirt designs that I’ll share in the weeks ahead after our trip. If the weather allows and you’re into it, add your Disney dress up items to the display. It will be hot when our trip is planned so we aren’t bringing the long sleeve Frozen dresses from our Frozen 2 photo shoot but they would’ve been fun!

  • Stress the travel aspect! I used one of our suitcases as the container to hold all our Disney friends to reiterate the “travel” aspect of the adventure since ours requires a plane ride. This was something the girls didn’t realize during our initial reveal and now that we’ve talked about it more, they understand that it’s more than just some rides, but a whole vacation!

  • Add some gifts! Everyone loves gifts! Pack a few Disney themed items, snacks for the trip, or activities for the plane ride to make it extra special. I did get another set of these Disney autograph books for the girls, but they will most likely just use them as a notebook to doodle or journal since character interactions are limited and social distanced. I also recommend this Disney Eye Found It card game that would be great for the plane or hotel room. We have the big gameboard version and love this smaller card set too!
Paper plate Disney countdown with free printables | spotofteadesigns.com
  • Create a visual countdown. This one was made with a paper plate and my free printables! It really helped my girls understand how many more days there were left until our trip as they cut off a paper chain piece each morning. See their reaction and the last big surprise that they’ll find out when we get to the hotel!

  • Make it a game! When we did our Disney World reveal for our trip a few years ago, I did it via an Easter Egg hunt even though it wasn’t Easter time. This is also available to you as a free printable! OR if you have a Cricut machine, I made a SVG cut version!

🌞 Yellow Roses - these 2 plants bloom at least 4 times in spring and summer!
🍅 Tomatoes - tons of Roma and Supersweet 100 breeds used for appetizers, sauces and salads. Happy to grow and to gift these away!
🧄 Garlic - planted last fall and harvested in June. Doing this again this October! Should I also do onions?
💜 Lavender - The bees love them. I missed the window to dry them but putting that on my list to try next year. Would you want a little satchel of lavender?
🥒 Cucumbers - slice it up and add some sea salt. Yum!

Our group of 2 adults and 5 kids were hosted by TreeTopQuestPhilly and enjoyed a sunny Saturday exploring obstacles, climbing and ziplining and we'd highly recommend this park!
.
Here some key details to know before you go:
- The staff is super knowledgable, friendly and patient with climbers of all abilities, but it is self paced where you are in control of your own equipment.
- You attend an equipment fitting, safety instruction and practice course before you climb
- Expect to spend the full 2.5 hours of your reservation and you likely won't need sunglasses in this shady spot
- Gloves are an optional purchase, but we didn't get them and no one got any blisters
- There are 4 levels of courses with Level 4 being for those 12+ only. It's HIGH but thrilling to those willing to check it out!
- Porta potties and lockers are available at the check in area and there are plenty of benches and picnic tables to sit at in the park. Spectators are free to watch from below.
