Stamped Leaf Table Runner

in Celebrations, Crafts & DIY, Home Decor, Thanksgiving

Even though the whole country doesn’t experience the beauty of changing leaves in the fall, we all know that it’s a big theme to signify the season. See how to bring nature indoors with this stamped leaf table runner to sit down the center of your table this Thanksgiving dinner.

When it comes to long table runners, make sure you have enough fabric material to start! Luckily OlyFun, from Fairfield World, comes in large bolt in lots of different colors to roll out on your table surface.

Stamped Leaf Table Runner Supplies:

  • OlyFun Material – Orange Soda and Red
  • Acrylic Paint and a wide paint brush
  • Leaves
  • Ribbon or decorative trim
  • HeatnBond Fabric Fusion Double Sided Adhesive Tape
  • Cardboard and scrap paper
  • Rolling pin or brayer roller (optional)

Go on a nature walk and hunt for the perfect leaves for this project. While you might be tempted to pick fallen leaves and their beautiful colors, for this project you’ll want a healthy live leaf so it holds up for the stamping process.

Cut your OlyFun a little longer than the length of your table. For this project, I used two colors of OlyFun, cutting one slightly more narrow than the other. You’ll love how easy this material cuts along your marking!

Now it’s time to stamp! Lay your leave down on a covered surface and use a wide paintbrush to apply a thin coat of paint on the whole surface. Make sure the veiny underside of the leaf is facing up as the side you want to paint. Once covered, turn over in position on the OlyFun material where you want the imprint and place a piece of scrap paper on top.

Rub along the leaf shape or roll on top using your fingers, a rolling pin or brayer to get the full imprint. Lift the scrap paper and leaf to reveal a beautiful stamped leaf print!

Repeat this process for this leaf color and piece all over the material, then change to additional leaf shapes or colors.

Allow to fully dry then attach a decorative ribbon edge using a double sided Fabric Fuse adhesive.

On Thanksgiving day, lay the Oly Fun sheets down the center of the table, with the stamped component on top.

Run a running stitch down the middle of a strip of OlyFun to create a ruffled napkin ring to create a coordinating decoration on your table.

This colorful stamped leaf design will add a beautiful hint of fall to this festive occasion. Complete this nature inspired tablescape with mini gourds from your location farm or garden center.

5 Tips to Make Shell Canvases like this: 🐚 Draw ou 5 Tips to Make Shell Canvases like this:
🐚 Draw out a stencil of your preferred shape. It's optional to paint the shape itself, but even a rough pencil line will keep you on task
🐚 Use strong glue and a lot of it! I used E6000 glue and ended up having to get more than what you see here.
🐚 Flip the shells over! There are some cool colors on the insides that may match better than the top side.
🐚 Clean and dry the shells thoroughly. Sorry, but I have no tips about this process as my mom had these ones for year from past trips, but you don't want some smelly shells hanging in your home!
🐚 Don't skip on those little shells as those minis are perfect to fill in the gaps of the collages.

Hello fellow readers! If you're looking for some r Hello fellow readers! If you're looking for some recommendations for historical fiction reads, here are 5 of my favorites I enjoyed last year that I'd recommend to readers who like this genre (with no spoilers):
.
The Frozen River by Arial Lawhorn – Takes place in the post American Revolution times, narrated by a midwife sharing her challenges in this profession and not being taken seriously but still having people trust her medical authority. It includes a murder and trial, which just reiterates how crazy it was to be a woman back then and their lack of rights!
.
The Book of Lost Names by Kristin Harmel – Like many of her books, this author focuses on the French aspect of WWII, but this time as those who helped forge documents to help Jewish children cross the border.
.
The Nature of Fragile Things by Susan Miessner – Follow Susan Whalen who comes to San Francisco in 1906 as a mail order bride only to get into the middle of a complicated life after marrying a man she never met and things she discovers during a nature disaster in her state.
.
The Lion Women of Tehran by Marjan Kamali – Starts in the 1950s in Iran where we meet two friends and follow their story through the historic time of this country. This fictional read shares more about the culture and limitations of women and those who try to change the government while struggling to maintain friendships.
.
The Rose Code by Kate Quinn – An assortment of female friendships during WWII as they work to break secret codes by the German military and continues to follow their stories through the years.
.
If you have a suggestion on another in this genre, please leave it in the comments so I can add to my TBR!
