When it comes to spring we often think of warmer weather, blooming flowers and the chirping of young birds. Consider adding this feeling inside and add some whimsical painted birdhouses to add to your spring mantle.

Whenever I’m at the dollar store, Target dollar spot or the wood craft aisle at the craft store I also check out the wood shapes. They’re not just for the kids and they don’t have to look like a painted disaster once they’re finished being painted.
I’ve had this collection of wood birdhouses for years now (when AC Moore was going out of business) and I’ve held onto them all this time.
When I needed a new mantle for spring I broke them out and thought they’ve been a perfect crafternoon for my girls to paint.
The girls painted the tops and bottoms in solid colors for me.
Then I took over and added some whimsical flair to this collection of painted birdhouses. Polka dots, stripes and some basic flowers are an easy way to add some geometric looks to these basic wood structures.
How cute is this collection? See these birdhouse creations being made!
Stay tuned to see how I added these painted birdhouses on my spring mantle that sit near our bleeding tissue paper canvases!
