Besides making kids smile for generations, Minnie Mouse is known for just a few things: loving Mickey, dressing in polka dots and running a Bowtique! If you’re planning a Minnie Mouse party and are looking for a fun and easy cake topper idea, try making this bow cake topper to dress up your cake!

When you have two little girls who recently went to Disney with their very Disney obsessed cousins, having them help you style and stage a Minnie Mouse birthday party is a no brainer! As I always like to put my own special handmade touch to these parties, I went ahead and created this fun bow topper with very little cost!

Here’s what you need to create this fun bow cake topper:

  • Wood heart shapes
  • Wood dowels
  • Deco Art Americana Paint
  • Buttons
  • Hot Glue Gun

First paint the wooden heart shapes and 5 dowels any way you choose. I went ahead and pulled out colors that matched this new “Minnie Mouse Helpers” party line. Tip: To paint the dowels, stick them in a piece of Styrofoam so you can easily spin it around and paint all sides.

Once completely dry (which does not take long with this Americana paint), use hot glue to assemble the bows.

Add buttons for the bow centers and small shirt buttons for the Minnie Mouse’s signature polka dot pattern. I am SO excited to share that these buttons are from a collection we inherited of Derek’s great grandma (whom Hailey’s middle name is partially named). She never got to meet any of these great granddaughters of hers but I love the thought that she was around in some way.
