Handmade Gifts: Feature #15 | More Gifts for Baby

in Crafts & DIY, Home Decor

As a crafter, I know how long it takes to make some handmade gifts. Items I receive need more than the few minutes of love I can give it, so I’m happy to post these Handmade with Love posts that showcase great handmade cards or gifts I have received.

Sometimes there are people in your life that take a chance on you and you don’t see the difference that chance made until you look back. When my mom found an art internship for me my sophomore year of college, I went into the interview process as a naïve young student. I didn’t wear a suit (because I didn’t own one) nor did I even bring a proper portfolio. But for some reason, the art director still hired me.

Once I graduated and a position opened up, she called me into her office and asked if I wanted to work there full time. After getting a year of full time experience, she once again called me into her office when a past coworker (who left to work at a scrapbook company) came for a visit. She left me and the coworker alone to chat, which lead me to my next job in the scrapbooking field, a field she knew I loved. All these early steps molded who I am today.

Why am I sharing this, you ask? Because I recently reconnected with this art director, Penny, who created this adorable card and panels spelling out Brielle’s name.

I didn’t have anything for her door so I attached the panels to some ribbon and now it’s personalized for her! Penny, thank you for this garland piece and for helping me get my first and second jobs! :)

You’ve seen the great work of my longtime friend Mary quite a few times now but here’s one more handmade creation! She made Brielle this adorably trendy bright blanket! This girl is never going to be cold with all the fabulous handmade blankets she received!

She’s so lucky her mommy has some talented friends! :)

5 Tips to Make Shell Canvases like this: 🐚 Draw ou 5 Tips to Make Shell Canvases like this:
🐚 Draw out a stencil of your preferred shape. It's optional to paint the shape itself, but even a rough pencil line will keep you on task
🐚 Use strong glue and a lot of it! I used E6000 glue and ended up having to get more than what you see here.
🐚 Flip the shells over! There are some cool colors on the insides that may match better than the top side.
🐚 Clean and dry the shells thoroughly. Sorry, but I have no tips about this process as my mom had these ones for year from past trips, but you don't want some smelly shells hanging in your home!
🐚 Don't skip on those little shells as those minis are perfect to fill in the gaps of the collages.
