Longtime followers know that I LOVE me some paper plate party decor! They’re affordable, colorful, lightweight and the circular shaped can be a million different things.

I’ve shared LOTS of paper plate party backdrops here and on this follow up post. Well I’m with a new theme using the same idea of mixing paper plates in dessert and dinner sizes.

When a fellow softball family planned to host our 10U/12U pool party, I offered to make a fun party backdrop for the players to use as a selfie station and knew paper plates would be the perfect piece of decor.

DIY Paper Plate Softball Party Backdrop Supplies:

  • Foam Board
  • Zip Ties
  • Yellow dessert plates
  • Blue dinner plates
  • Foil fringe curtains (Dollar Tree!)
  • Adhesive Vinyl (white, red)

Since we had so much success quickly and easily putting up the Kentucky Derby backdrop by building them on cheap foam boards, I went that approach again. This is how I cut up the single piece of foam to include holes for the zip ties.

Zip ties inserted with some sketched notes on where I’d put the blue plates and yellow plates (which I added stitches on with red vinyl and my Cricut machine).

First I hot glued the blue plates on plus wood blocks in the open areas.

I attached the yellow plates to these wood blocks so they’d give a riser affect over the blue plates.

To complete the “all star” look, I added stars with vinyl adhesive vinyl.

On party day, I attached the foam pieces to my backdrop stand using the zip ties, taped foil curtains on the back and our softball photo backdrop was complete!

I also worked my DIY foam board and napkin magic to create a large letter R to mimic one component of our team’s/town’s logo. It was a fun photo accessory the girls could hold in photos or held behind the team gift bags.

This party was for our all star teams which included goodie bags for each teammate and personalized gifts inside. I added my Eat Sleep Softball Tags on the front so we could tell which of the 24 bags was theirs.

Hello fellow readers! If you're looking for some r Hello fellow readers! If you're looking for some recommendations for historical fiction reads, here are 5 of my favorites I enjoyed last year that I'd recommend to readers who like this genre (with no spoilers):
.
The Frozen River by Arial Lawhorn – Takes place in the post American Revolution times, narrated by a midwife sharing her challenges in this profession and not being taken seriously but still having people trust her medical authority. It includes a murder and trial, which just reiterates how crazy it was to be a woman back then and their lack of rights!
.
The Book of Lost Names by Kristin Harmel – Like many of her books, this author focuses on the French aspect of WWII, but this time as those who helped forge documents to help Jewish children cross the border.
.
The Nature of Fragile Things by Susan Miessner – Follow Susan Whalen who comes to San Francisco in 1906 as a mail order bride only to get into the middle of a complicated life after marrying a man she never met and things she discovers during a nature disaster in her state.
.
The Lion Women of Tehran by Marjan Kamali – Starts in the 1950s in Iran where we meet two friends and follow their story through the historic time of this country. This fictional read shares more about the culture and limitations of women and those who try to change the government while struggling to maintain friendships.
.
The Rose Code by Kate Quinn – An assortment of female friendships during WWII as they work to break secret codes by the German military and continues to follow their stories through the years.
.
If you have a suggestion on another in this genre, please leave it in the comments so I can add to my TBR!
