Do you have a fairy, butterfly or floral themed nursery or bedroom and you’re looking for more DIY projects to make it complete? Consider painting a DIY growth chart with a butterfly design to help watch your little one grow!
I know, I know! Long time SOTD readers are probably sick of this idea by now, but I just can’t help it! I LOVE painting growth charts as gifts! They are one of my favorite accessories to have in a little kid’s bedroom as you can literally watch them growth on this portable growth chart. Should you ever move, you’ll always have this piece of art with you to capture all the new heights they grow!
The story behind this one starts last November when I gifted a friend a DIY Farm themed growth chart for her soon-to-be baby boy. The mom-to-be was very happy with it and she asked me to paint one for his older sister!
She had no ideas on a design and let me do my thing. Her room is an eclectic mix of decorations (as are most 4 year olds) but one thing I noticed right away were the butterflies hanging on the walls.
I took this inspiration and went ahead and painted butterflies for the first time ever!
Of course mine are inspired by monarch butterflies but are much more cartoony in nature. I was able to create some ombre wing effects using my different colors of Deco Art acrylic paint that really pop in person.
I can’t wait to see this DIY growth chart hung in her bedroom!
Curious what other designs I’ve done? Check out this Hot Air Balloon, Ombre Seashells and Construction Truck versions I made!
