Gingerbread party decor is so easy to make as the minimum you need is some cardboard and white paint. But you can get even more fancy and add fluffy white snow elements to add more texture! Luckily, thanks to my friends at Fairfield World, I had lots of white fluffy Poly-Fil Polyester Fiber Fill at the ready to help make some Gingerbread party decor for my friend’s daughter’s birthday party!

We are already known for creating DIY party elements to celebrate her kids, like the Godzilla party decor, Monster truck trophy and Foam Board Cross made for her other parties and now we were ready to put our cardboard, white paint and Poly-Fil supplies to work!

First, we saved our large cardboard pieces from recycling for a few weeks, grabbed a big bottle of white acrylic paint and a hot glue gun. I am a planner so I needed to sketch out an idea, lay it out with a pencil and ruler before cutting and painting but you could also just wing it.

I would highly recommend having different sized paint brushes (a round or flat is best for acrylic paint) so you can mix and match as you create.

To help make them stand I used more scraps of cardboard and glued on “wing” shapes the houses could lean on.

After the paint fully dried, we glued on tufts of fluffy Poly-Fil on the roofs, over some window sills and door frames. We also cut some platforms for the houses to stand on and folded them down in front slightly so we could glue extra “snow” on the surface.

Poly-Fil Polyester Fiber Fill makes the perfect snow accent that you can even put on the floor in your gingerbread party space. Poly-Fil comes in smaller bags, perfect to stuff into crafts, or bigger boxes that you can use for fun party decor!

This DIY gingerbread party decor was perfectly complimented with a wall of colorful crepe papers and some DIY trees she made with tissue paper and pipe cleaners.
