Now that we’re in a season full of too many cookies, consider bringing a different dessert to the holiday table – one made of ice cream! Baskin-Robbins now offers two cold treat options that are not only delicious but also fit the colors and flavors of this holiday season.
Each Christmas my side of the family (of 6 adults and now 5 kids under the age of 5) gets together on Christmas Eve or a day near it for the delicious dinner followed by present opening and desserts. It’s pretty much chaos the full day and while it’s all fun, we never get to sit, talk and just visit! To compensate for this crazy all day event, for the past few years my parents have planned a second day earlier in the month to visit at our house without the distraction of presents and too many guests.
We had this annual holiday visit yesterday and I decided to make it just a bit sweeter thanks to Baskin-Robbins and their Ganache Poinsettia Cake and Polar Pizza! I’d recommend these 2 delicious holiday-themed desserts for any celebration, whether it’s a full out holiday party or hosting family for an afternoon like we did.
Brielle enjoys the occasional “special treats” (aka anything in the dessert/treat category) so she had a hard time choosing which to try. In trust, we let her try a little of each, as did we! Ready to drool? Let me tell you about the deliciousness we enjoyed!
The Ganache Poinsettia Cake is a 9” round ice cream cake that typically serves 12-16 people. Since we were a smaller group, I’m happy to report we’ll be enjoying the leftovers this coming weekend on Christmas Eve! When ordering it online I was able to choose from a bunch of options to really customize it for our holiday afternoon.
I opted for chocolate cake with Old Fashioned Butter Pecan ice cream inside. Fun fact: butter pecan is the only ice cream flavor my dad eats! I was lucky that it was actually one of 16 flavors of ice cream you can select for this cake so I was able to make this guy a happy camper!
They also allow for a custom message to be written on top so I went with good old “Happy Holidays” in red icing. It was surrounded by a poinsettia design accented with Winter OREO® Cookies and YES it was as delicious as it sounds!
The next dessert was one I personally never had before but included two of my favorite things: pizza and ice cream. Seriously how could this go wrong?
I once again took the customized approach with two Polar Pizza creations. This winter Baskin-Robbins is featuring a Peppermint & Winter OREO® Cookies Polar Pizza which comes with a double fudge brownie crust with Peppermint ice cream, topped with Winter OREO® Cookie Pieces and drizzled with marshmallow and fudge topping. Our customized version included a chocolate ice cream instead of the pink peppermint.
But since Brielle was a fan of the “pink ice cream” concept our second Polar Pizza included strawberry ice cream and was a hit with Derek!
Besides these delicious cakes, Baskin-Robbins is also bringing back Peppermint Bark in the Dark as its December Flavor of the Month. I unfortunately didn’t get a chance to indulge in this treat but if crunchy peppermint bark, creamy Chocolate ice cream, peppermint candy and white chocolate is your jam, you best to be headed to their store this month!
Getting these to our table could not have been easier as I was actually able to pre-order them online. You’re also able to buy them in store but pre-ordering is so nice, isn’t it?
