In kindergarten many kids start loosing teeth so in preparation for this eventual exciting moment, decided to craft up a new soft tooth fairy pillow for Hailey.

While she has no signs of a wiggly tooth, she is still super excited to be ready with her very own pillow featuring some of her favorite colors and, of course, some sparkles!

If you remember, I created one a rainbow unicorn tooth fairy pillow for Brielle that has been used 3 times now! The soft felted concept seemed to work well for her so it was time to design a new theme for Hailey. She loves all things pink lately and is that kid that is always distracted by butterflies flying by so a Butterfly Tooth Fairy pillow was a no brainer!

Butterfly tooth fairy pillow supplies:

  • Felt: white, pink, purple, gold yellow
  • Embroidery thread: white, pink, purple, gold yellow, black
  • Fabric Scissors (these are my favorite for cutting felt!)
  • Straight pins
  • Gem Tack Adhesive
  • Water erase marker
  • Needle
  • Gems
  • Stuffing

Start by cutting out all the template pieces and the coordinating pieces of felt. Chalk or the water erase pen will help when tracing.

Use straight pins to hold the pieces together for the tooth front, back and 2 wings. Sew together using embroidery thread.

Use your water erase pen to draw on the smile and eyelashes then stitch with black embroidery thread.

Pin the white tooth shapes together with the wings in between. Use white embroidery thread to attach the tooth fairy pillow shape together. Add stuffing inside before you close it all up.

Use gem tack to add gems on the crown, if desired. (I was gifted an assortment from adhesives from Beacon and have loved all the ones I’ve tried thus far! Think this one might be used a lot for the holiday gem filled season!)

When the time comes I know she’ll be happy to grab her little butterfly tooth fairy pillow and slip a tooth inside the pocket in the back.

We will, of course, also hang our tooth fairy pick up door hanger onside her room and wait for the little visit from the Tooth Fairy herself!
