50+ Non-Candy Easter Basket Filler Ideas

in Celebrations, Easter, Favorite Products, Lifestyle

Those who have the “it must fit in the Easter basket” rule, like myself, will love this GIANT list I’ve put together of things that will fit inside! From toys to crafts, games to activities, shop this list of non-candy Easter basket filler ideas and get ahead on the next holiday!  These are all items our family had, used or currently still love so I can stand behind each item I’ve linked here and hope your kids will love them in their Easter basket too!

This list includes a large mix of ages but focus on the 3 – 7 age range. There are plenty that are gender neutral and for those that include a more girly based item, I’ve done my best to find the “boy” equivalent, if it applied. BTW, pin this post for later as these are all sized for Christmas stockings too!

Games

Favorite card games and board games for kids ages 2 - 5 years old | spotofteadesigns.com
  • Scavenger Hunt for Kids: Card game that’s great for road trips! I do think my 6 year old is more successful at this game vs my 4 year old mostly due to her car seat being higher and her ability to see outside better.
  • Uno: The classic game that is great for trips, parties or to just at home.
  • Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza: This game is fun for kids and adults like! Flip a card and state one word from the Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza phrase. If it matches and you’re the first to slap the pile, you collect the pile. There are also some special cards that you need to act out a move which really mixes up the slapping action.
  • Rat-A-Tat Cat: Not to let the cat out of the bag (pun intended) but this has been a go to item to gift Brielle’s friends for their 7th birthdays. This card game uses memory skills, strategy and learning which numbers 1 – 9 are less or more than another. As an adult, you want to win this but might struggle if your 6 year old learns how to play the game well!
  • Card Holder: Always on my Easter basket filler list as it’s perfect to pair with a card game!
  • Math Dice Jr: Educational game that focuses on addition!

  • Rush Hour Jr: Might be one of my favorite strategy games to play with kids! There’s a little plastic ice cream truck that needs to get out of traffic built of other little plastic cars. You place the cars on the grid according to the cards which run from easy to super hard. Watch as your kids work through strategies to move the cars in different directions and get the truck out!   The box shows at 8×9 in size, so a little on the bigger side, but you could also remove it from the box and keep all the items in the blue storage bag it comes in.
  • Spot it Jr: Between any two cards there is always one match! This is a great on the go travel game as it comes with it’s own tin. Throw in it a bag for a restaurant or a hotel for a family game night.
  • Picture Charades: We play this as a family and it’s so cute to see the ways the girls interpret the cards to act out the item. There are 4 different categories: people (professions), indoor, outdoor and animals. My kids get a little mixed up on what the profession is sometimes with but with a little help they can figure it out and act it out.
  • Barrel of monkeys: Small but still challenging! A great quiet time activity!

CRAFTS

Favorite craft kits for kids ages 1 - 6 | spotofteadesigns.com
  • Melissa and Doug Scissor Skills Book: Each page has different designs with dotted lines to show kids where to cut with the scissors that are provided.
  • Shrinky Dinks : Mini kits like this mermaid style that I gifted them last year and this pirate one fit perfectly inside your Easter Basket! They make for great rainy day activities or lazy mornings at home.
  • Invisible Ink Books: We’ve had two different types of these invisible ink books. This Tangled one just involves coloring the pages to transform them from black and white to full color. This Moana one is more of an activity book with different things to do on each page using your pen.
  • Activity Books: Start with My First Book of Tracing for little kids and these Puzzlemania style books for older ones!
  • Paint by Stickers: Seems they are endless on coming up with fun themes! These are great for travel! Check out the unicorn designs or Under the Sea themes!
  • Sidewalk Chalk
Mickey Mouse Nail Art - easy nail pens to use on kids | spotofteadesigns.com
  • Nail Polish: I paint my girls nails pretty often but this is NOT something they are allowed to have access by themselves! This ombre shift nail polish changes colors depending if your fingers are warm or cold and these Sketch It Nail Pens are great to draw dots or little designs! (and PS for those of you that think I let them do this unsupervised… you cray! I am the only one that paints their nails, but these are fast drying and with small tips, are great for little nails)
  • Sticker Dress Up Book
Favorite craft kits for kids ages 1 - 6 | spotofteadesigns.com
  • Paper Chain Dolls: A mini kit that’s lots of fun!
  • Play dough: Little kids will be excited for fresh dough and older kids will love themed kits!
  • Gel Pens
  • Paper Roll
  • Spiral Notebook: If you’re planning a Disney trip soon, this is the one I gave the girls to use as autograph books.
  • Temporary Tattoos
  • Color Wonder Marker and Paper Kits: The markers only color on these specific papers! Boys and girls alike will love this Baby Shark set we have!
Favorite products for a 5 year old girl | spotofteadesigns.com
  • Simply Needlepoint: Small craft kit but isn’t short on time to complete it. Great for introducing kids to sewing and cross stitch
  • Sequin Art: Both girls have this but it does keep my 6 year old’s attention much better than her 4 year old sister. This kit really needs a non moving/flat surface to use so it’s good for travel as in a restaurant or on vacation, but not for a car ride.

TOYS

  • Slinky: most fun if you live in a house with stairs!
  • Lego heart box: There are lots in this series and they are all small enough to fit in a basket! We have Emma and her little scuba gear and Mia with her sandcastle.
Favorite products for a 4 year old - pretend play items | spotofteadesigns.com
  • Pretend play makeup: a little zip pouch containing fake makeup containers, a hit with little girls!
  • Garden Set
  • Fidget Spinner
  • Garden Gloves
  • Jewelry Box: We gifted Brielle this unicorn one and Hailey this mermaid one for Christmas and they are both obsessed with winding it to play the music and keeping their treasures inside.
  • Flarp: putty that makes fart noise. Funny at any age for any gender!

WEARABLES

Favorite products for a 6 year old - goggles | spotofteadesigns.com
  • Bathing Suit: As of last year I’ve decided this is going to be tradition! Spring break and the bathing summer season is right around the corner to get them a new suit to look forward to wearing!
  • Goggles: Dollar store basic goggles to do not compare to these! We have 2 sets which the girls used for swimming lessons last winter and the pool all summer!
  • Socks
  • Fun tights
  • Headbands: Our girls have these plastic cat ones in all these colors but look they also come in bunnies for Easter!
  • Purse: Hailey has this mermaid one and often throws our old flip phone she uses as a toy, inside!
  • Hair Chalk: great for spirit days at school, prep ralleys or Halloween!

KITCHEN

  • Curious Chef Nylon Knife Set: These knives are safe for kids to use (obviously still with supervision). We have this set that my 4 and 6 year old use to cut up fruit when we’re making smoothies. It’s a fun way to introduce them to the kitchen.
  • Sandwich cutters: We have had this set for years and it’s still going strong!
  • Fun Water Cup: I’m not sure about your kids but mine always drink MORE water when it’s in a fun cup!

BATH

Elf on the shelf green bathtub activity with free printable | spotofteadesigns.com
  • Crayola Bath Dropz: This might lean more towards the 3 year old age group that’s still taking baths. We love these as they don’t stain the kids or the bath! Tip: The tablets are red, blue and yellow so practice color theory while getting clean and offer to sometimes give them 2 colors!
  • Grow A Towel: Find them at the Dollar Store in the kids toy aisle. They aren’t the softest washcloths ever but are a fun way to change up a bath routine or to bring on vacation!
Favorite products for a 6 year old girl - mermaid bath bomb | spotofteadesigns.com
  • Mermaid Surprise Bubble Bomb: The girls each got one of these for their birthday and they were a HUGE hit! They are basically a fun bath bomb and a surprise ball in one! Dissolve in the water and it reveals a little plastic ball that contains a mermaid necklace! Look on the listing as they lots of other necklace themes, like unicorns, cats and sloths!

MISCELLANEOUS

Easter basket filler idea: umbrella | spotofteadesigns.com
  • Kid Sized Umbrella: This is probably my biggest stretch of an Easter basket filler item that kinda sticks out of the basket but I promise it will be well used and well loved throughout the rainy spring season!
  • Bandaids: You can find tons of prints, characters, and designs! Bonus: take them out of the box and use them as fillers for Easter eggs!
  • Kaytee Songbird Bird Seed Bell: Brielle’s friend has gifted her one of these the last two Christmases and she always gets excited it hang it up on the tree in front of our home and watch the birds every morning!

.
Our group of 2 adults and 5 kids were hosted by TreeTopQuestPhilly and enjoyed a sunny Saturday exploring obstacles, climbing and ziplining and we'd highly recommend this park!
.
Here some key details to know before you go:
- The staff is super knowledgable, friendly and patient with climbers of all abilities, but it is self paced where you are in control of your own equipment.
- You attend an equipment fitting, safety instruction and practice course before you climb
- Expect to spend the full 2.5 hours of your reservation and you likely won't need sunglasses in this shady spot
- Gloves are an optional purchase, but we didn't get them and no one got any blisters
- There are 4 levels of courses with Level 4 being for those 12+ only. It's HIGH but thrilling to those willing to check it out!
- Porta potties and lockers are available at the check in area and there are plenty of benches and picnic tables to sit at in the park. Spectators are free to watch from below.
