Spin Art Ornament Gift Tags Kids Craft

Last month we shared the spin art Thanksgiving turkey place cards the girls made with me and I knew I had to break out our spin art machine again for some holiday crafts. I personally love the concept of process art and using the art they make!

For this craft I decided against the traditional red and green color scheme and went in a new direction. I broke out the Extreme Sheen acrylic paints I was provided by Deco Art.

They give a matte finish but one that is shiny and metallic, a great inclusion for the holiday season.

The girls took turns dripping the paint onto the spin art machine to create unique and beautiful displays of art.

Despite wearing smocks and covering our table, I am pleasantly surprised how contained this craft can be.

They covered all the paper scraps I had cut up for this crafting session and put them aside to dry.

They dried amazingly fast! Tip: make sure to remove as much extra paint that’s left on the machine so it doesn’t get too caked up and refuses to spin the next time. (Lesson learned the hard way!)

Once dry, use the circle punch (or you can just trace something that’s circular shaped) and cut out circles from your spin art prints. Each ornament card takes three circles.

Fold all three circles in half. Glue the three of them together on one side each and then glue the set down onto your gift tag base.

Add this folded ornament design to a cardstock tag and add a different color piece to the top like the ornament hanger. Fun Fact: The gold cardstock I used was left over pieces from our wedding invitations and the red cardstock base was leftover pieces from my sister-in-law’s wedding invitations! There’s always a use for paper scraps!
