Like most toddler filled houses, our home was visited by a sneaky little elf this past holiday season. While she did find her fair share of hiding places in our home, she also brought with her some crafty activities every few days, including the materials for this snowman footprint kids craft!
Before going further I have to state that this is not a “sit down and complete the project all at once” type of project. We did this in three parts but also made more than one print which made it fun as we completed each step. The first step involved a DIY printmaking concept.
With just a paper tube and a piece of bubble wrap, Brielle was able to add a snowy background to some blue construction paper. As you may have seen on my instagram, this girl was really into this process, loving to paint then roll the tube across the paper for unique prints. Tip: Use glue to hold down the bubble wrap to the tube and not tape like I did. The tape created a void on the roll so a full rotation would give a blank spot, which I didn’t realize until later.
We set these aside to dry and came back later for our footprint design.
I painted her foot, which of course was a giggle fest, and pressed down to document her cute little footprint on her snowy background.
The next morning we sat and she gave me each colored crayon I requested and watched as I made her snowman footprint come to life! If your child is older I’m sure they could complete this step by Brielle was happy to write a message aka scribble on the back of each paper once complete.
She proudly passed these snowman footprint designs to friends and family telling them “that’s my foot!” She even helped Hailey make some extras and we used them as cards to put on top of the teacher gifts this Christmas!
I’d love to see your kid’s feet in snowmen form so please tag me if you make your own winter wonderland full of snowmen footprints!
