While my daughters had no idea what L.O.L. Surprise was before this party styling assignment, I can totally see how these toys could be fun for this age. I mean cute accessories and dolls with personalities all bundled into a surprise ball of fun? Who wouldn’t love it?! I wanted to play up the “surprise” aspect of these toys and FINALLY got to try making surprise cupcakes!

Surprise cupcakes are surprisingly easy to make! All you need is a cupcake corer, chocolate candies, icing and decorative toppings.

I had this cupcake corer for years but never broke it out until this party. You simple push it into a baked and cooled cupcake, twist and lift and the center comes out. you can put on the level and the top piece pops out to be placed back on.

Tip: cut half of the top off before putting it back on the cupcake so that it stays flush with the top.
