Full disclosure, prior to this room update, I had been working with Custom Picture Frames for a few months, developing content for their upcoming web blog. As a quick update: this is what the living room looked like when we moved into our house almost a year and a half ago. Gross carpet, old fashion fan but with a nice neutral greige color.

Here is that same view today! Our living room is the heart of our home, where we spend the most time playing, watching tv and hanging out. One side had a large couch with plenty of seating for our family and the other end includes some of the girls larger pretend play stations, like their mini kitchen and dress up station.

This is a photo from 6 months ago with a large empty wall over the couch and the more greige color paint color that came with the house. I thought this large empty wall was the perfect space for a gallery wall with some family photos.

Before taking the plunge into gallery wall life, I created a faux version using kraft paper shown to the size I wanted and used painter’s tape to hang it up. We lived with that for about a week or two to make sure we were happy with the size, position and amount in this space. It was a hit!

I was able to order 6 identical Noir Classique style frames with a single smooth white mat and non-glare acrylic front. I’ve always admired the look of those chunky borders around black and white photos, but had yet to try it in our home so I’m happy I got to!

THIS is how my package arrived. They include cardboard, zip tie straps and bubble wrap to make sure nothing is sliding around within the packaging.

I’ve gotten many orders from them before and have yet to have anything arrive broken or chipped! They also tape the hanging components to the back, but not with a super sticky glue that leaves a residue. Bravo to an online company who puts careful attention to this important aspect of the consumer experience!

I ordered (6) 8×10” matte prints at Snapfish and trimmed them to fit the 8×8” frames I ordered.

The photos feature our family’s history: marriage, baby 1, baby 2, the girls at their first joint birthday party, last year’s first family photoshoot, and finally a sisters as best friends shot. Derek and I spent a pretty penny for photos at our wedding and only have ONE hung in this house so it was a great excuse to print more!

I figure I’ll be able to update and swap these photos down the road, but love what’s in there now.
