Have you been noticing this pineapple trend? You will now that I said this. But man, the pineapple is one hot fruit this season in home decor, crafts and fashion! After a weekly (bi-weekly?) trip to our beloved Target (or at Brielle calls it “red circle store”) and seeing several pineapple designs in different departments, I was inspired to work up some sort of pineapple craft for her in the afternoon.

We pulled out our favorite Crayola Fingerpaints and got to work!
First were some green handprints for the stem.
Next was the yellow pineapple base.
I gave her a q-tip and she made some dots on it with a dark purple mixture to make that pineapple look. (We don’t have brown fingerpaint!)
After that dried, we folded it in half with the design on the outside and I drew lines where to cut. I was impressed that she mostly followed these lines! Good scissor practice!
We unfolded it and taped the ends together to form our paper lantern. To make it more “pineapple-y” We cut out the green handprint stems and taped them on top.
Ok so yeah it’s a stretch to be a pineapple but she thought it was fun with all the painting, cutting and taping and that’s all that matters!
